He's in deep s***, but the timing of this leak is suspect: Bush and Rice are out of the country, Bush is being hammered with criticism about Iraq and his poll numbers are dropping everyday.

The timing doesn't change the fact that Woodward's involvement means he's in deep s***, but it seems like he came forward now to give credence to this spin. And Woodward's involvement has nothing to do with Libby's indictment.

Woodward Claim on CIA Leak Disputes Charge
By TONI LOCY and PETE YOST, Associated Press Writers
8 minutes ago

WASHINGTON - Bob Woodward's version of when and where he learned the identity of a CIA operative contradicts a special prosecutor's contention that Vice President Dick Cheney's top aide was the first to make the disclosure to reporters.

Attorneys for the aide, I. Lewis "Scooter" Libby, described Wednesday's statement by the Washington Post's assistant managing editor as helpful for their defense, although Libby is charged with lying to a grand jury and the FBI, not with disclosing the CIA official's name.

I may be way off, but the MSM seems too prepared with this message.

7. I remember some speculation here that the Bush** Crime Family took down...
...Nixon when Tricky Dick snubbed Poppy for the VP position. If true, then Woodward might have been a Bush** tool all along.

9. Sounds about right, esp. since Poppy and Tricky were in
Dallas on November 22, 1963. Maybe Dick reneged on the rest of the deal.

5. I've thought him a weasel since he started the Bush book.
He's been shilling since.

Now we find he's been purposefully trying to push the story away from culpability. RAT.

6. From everything I've seen, the MSM is intentionally misleading
Woodward's 'confession' doesn't contradict Fitzgerald, IMO. Fitzgerald said Libby was the first "known" to speak with a reporter and the GJ indicted him on lying and obstruction. Libby was not charged with outing her, which BTW is all the RW shills crowed about for three days after the indictment was announced. Remember that "nothing on the underlying charge" thing?

Supposedly, Woodward's source contacted the special prosecutor's office (presumably that means Fitzgerald's office) and said "he" told Woodward about Plame before Libby's contact with reporters as it was stated in the indictment. So...here's my questions:
1) Under what circumstances can a prosecutor bring charges against a sitting President and/or Vice President? Are there special circumstances?

2) If this 'source' has confessed, does that mean he committed no crime? In other words, if a person commits an act of treason (or violates the Espionage Act) and then confesses, he's still guilty...right?

3) The big question is: WHOEVER it was, high level, low level, mid-level, or janitorial staff--WHY DIDN'T THE WHITE HOUSE COME RIGHT OUT AT THE BEGINNING WITH THIS INDIVIDUAL AND PROCLAIM "I DID IT. THERE IS NO CRIME"? That's what I really don't get about this whole thing! Why have they allowed themselves to get so deeply dug into this hole????!!!! What is it about passing this information that makes them so afraid to come clean?

Unless, of course...it WAS a criminal conspiracy that is entangled in the Espionage Act.

8. Please don't call them "MSM." They're NOT "mainstream" by any stretch.
Please call them what they are, the Corporate Media.
