1. I love it when this crowd talks about "nuances" and being "subtle"
They villify anyone on our side who talks this way, and then trot out these "distinctions" when it suits them.

Hey winger (I'm addressing the letter writer now):

Al Qaeda is STRONGER than they were on 9/11. Is that subtle enough for you? By muddling up those that attacked us with Saddam Hussein, Iraq is now a killing field, while the Taliban is coming back, Afghan poppies are flooding the streets of the U.S.A., and Bin Laden will NEVER be captured or brought to justice.

Have a happy thanksgiving.

5. Everytime We Say Nazi or Hitler
in the same sentence as Republican, or a Republican politician, etc. They say "there you go calling us Nazis again, comparing us to Hitler."

No. Dick Durbin was not calling our servicemen & women, our intelligence operatives Nazis. What he was saying is that some of the things done might sound as if they were done by Nazis. The distinction may be subtle*, but it is important.

Now to be fair, there have been ads (by both sides) that have been over the top. They are for the purpose of fearmongering and ad nothing to the debate. But a reasoned comparison of actions taken by us and actions taken by brutal regimes, nothing wrong with that in context. There is a difference, but people just hear the word Nazi or Hitler and fly off the handle.

* Personally, I don't think the distinction was subtle in Durbin's statement. I think it was pretty obvious.

2. This baffles me
because I do not understand why someone like this feels the need to defend Jean Schmidt and McLellan from what they obviously stated. Forget the nuances in the language that this man claims to see. They conveyed their meaning prettly clearly. Murtha=Coward Murtha=Radical Murtha=UnAmerican Murtha=Anti-Bush

3. On that link page was a link to this tag:
Police hit man in genitals with Taser

http://www.boston.com/news/odd/articles/2005/11/22/police_hit_man_in_genitals_with_taser/

I was thinking it might be your man, but I guess GA cops let him go.

4. Using Barry Darnell's logic, Hitler didn't mean to gas all those Jews
Edited on Thu Nov-24-05 09:30 AM by IndianaGreen
Zyklon-B is a pesticide, and those Jews were supposed to be deloused. It is not the Fuehrer's fault that those incompetent guards failed to follow the instructions in the gas canister.

I'll bet that Mr. Darnell also thinks that segregation was not racism!
