Anderson Cooper and Michael Ware expose the latest Bush lie
20 minutes ago, Anderson Cooper did a phone interview Time Magazine's Baghdad Bureau Chief, Michael Ware, who flatly refuted Bush's assertions of progress in training Iraqi forces. Asked by Anderson about Bush's claim that the Battle of Talafar was led primarily by Iraqi forces, specifically 11 Iraqi battalions supported by 5 coalition battalions, Ware responded thus:

"With the greatest respect to the President that is completely wrong and extraordinarily misleading."

Ware went on to explain that he was there with the troops at that battle, and the Iraqi troops were "not leading, but being led by Green Beret Special Forces". They were "following an American plan", and being told where to go, and when to fire.

11. you can just wait for his
kidnapping.

Hell if we can bomb Al Jazerra, we can surely make a Aussie go missing in Iraq.

3. This afternoon I heard an embedded reporter from the WP
He said the Iraqis say that it's hard to tell if there's progress because you can't see through all the smoke. He said there are still explosions everyday and people with hoods running around with machine guns. No water, no electricity.

4. I saw that!
Bush flat-out lied! How can he go in front of honorable military people and make such declarations? Does he really not know, or does he just not care? In any case, he lied. The president and commander in chief should speak the truth, and ONLY the truth! This one is totally incapable, as he's proven repeatedly.

15. Someone needs to use the 'L' word
I'm tired of misleading, inaccurate, exaggerated, etc.
Somebody, anybody, please just get up and say it! "He's lying".

Who do you think should be the first one to say it?

13. Respect is an EARNED thing. Bush isn't worthy of my scorn.
What...a dick.

The office; sure - it requires respect. The man holding it currently, not so much.

14. See what Ware has to do to keep his job: "With the greatest respect..
..." You know that's not what he'd say as a reporter. He'd just say, that's totally incorrect or what he said without the qualifier. Or maybe, "I'm not sure where he got his information, but that statement is flat out wrong."

CNN is showing its ass when their reporters have to do this.

I bet Daniel Schorr has agida from seeing that little piece.

KUDOS to both of them, though, for getting the truth out.

When * reaches 20% approval, will reporters be able to tell the truth without the qualifier? Probably not. The MSM will be huddled with the Neocons planning their counter attack to retain power.

CNN, you're on the way out, "Say Good Night CNN"

18. I kind of read it as a bit of sarcasm. Ware knows no one has "greatest"
"respect" for the man, anymore.

17. I saw it last night while...
channel surfing. I thought there would be some real fallout over it this am. It was incredible hearing this courageous guy that's been on the ground covering this debaucle since the beginning pretty much calling bush* a liar. I hope it gets the attention it deserves.
