Republicans Are Crazy
I have posted a topic like this before, but often I hear Republicans say things and it just makes me think they are crazy. Last night I was listening to one of the local radio show and a republican claimed that the only thing Bush should be impeached for is not having a better border plan to keep out immigrants. It was just so surprising to me that this guy could dismiss the spying, lying, and shredding the constitution, but could not stand there not being a plan to keep immigrants out of the country.

The man said that he was worried that someone might bring a dirty bomb across the border. I have a problem with this in that I have heard and read sources that claim it would be almost impossible for a member of Al Queda to bring a dirty bomb across the border in that you have to have great amounts of training to set off one of those bombs. So it just upsets me when Republicans say lying to congress in not impeachable, spying on Americans is not impeachable, but not keeping immigrants out of this country is impeachable. Finally, here is the funny part, after Hurricane Katrina Bush suspended the law that prevented contractors from hiring illegal immigrants.

1. I Count Three Kinds Of Republican Crazy
Your vignette is the first kind: the redneck, ugly American type. Ignorance on legs.

Then there is the psychopath, sociopath, narcissist and other personality disorders: those who truly deserve the locked wards and life terms.

And third, there is the schmoozer, going along for the profits and glory, the cynic who thinks that the bread will land butter side up for him if he sticks with the GOP. The amoral and unAmerican grafter.

Granted, all three syndromes can appear in one person, for example, Dick Cheney.

Therefore one needs a combination of at least three concurrent therapies to effect a cure: truth, justice, and morals. This is a difficult thing to pull off even for parents of young children. It is truly hard work, and the only work worth doing. 20 years of not doing this work (under Republican presidents) daily reminds us how refreshing the Clinton presidency was.

5. Training for a dirty bomb?
What kind of training and in what great amounts would one need to set off a dirty bomb? My understanding of a dirty bomb is that it is a conventional explosive with radioactive material fixed to the exterior that spreads upon detonation.

If a teenager can build a bomb with readily available materials, why is great amounts of training needed for a dirty bomb? I have just never heard this before.

12. Internet and radio
I looked it up on the internet and heard it on a radio show. From what I heard the idea that a dirty bomb is just like any other bomb is wrong. From what I have heard you are putting material together that a very unpredictable and detonation of the device is not that easy. It is possible that the device could go off before the person gets it to where they want to bring it. It is possible that the device can explod before the person gets over the border. Mainly the bomb is not as simple as the bombs a teenager can make. I will try to get you some links about the issue.

13. Suitecase Nuke-Dirty Bomb
I have learned tht I made the mistake of putting the dirty bomb and the suitecase nuke into the same catageory. However, it does seem that the dirty bomb is not as dangerous as some would think. Here are two links. the first is a question and answer session about the dirty bomb. The second in about the suitecase nuke and how it is not that easy to set off one. If either of the sites do not work just let me know.

9. Amen to that.
I will listen to the Freepers who call in to C-span and sometimes I just cannot believe that functioning people can say the things they say.

11. Dirty bombs aren't even particularly dangerous
They just make a few blocks uninhabitable for a couple of years. They're no more dangerous to you than the explosives in any bomb. It just sounds better to call them a dirty bomb; exposure to a bit of low-level radiation for the five minutes it takes you to run away is hardly a cause for alarm. The main problem is that it would close down the immediate area for two years or more til the cleanup was complete.
