Fox: "Bush began new year with visit to wounded U.S. Service Members"
Bush Begins New Year With Troop Visit
Sunday, January 01, 2006

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,180317,00.html

SAN ANTONIO, Texas — President Bush began his new year on Sunday with a visit to wounded U.S. service members at a Texas medical facility.

Bush, who ended his week-long vacation at his Texas ranch, met with 51 male and female service members who served in Iraq and Afghanistan.

The president awarded nine Purple Hearts to service members at the Brooke Army Medical Center, according to the White House.

A spokesman for Bush said on Saturday that the president's New Year's resolution is "to continue to work tirelessly for peace abroad and prosperity at home."

5. Is your post a depiction of what Shrub was probably doing early this a.m.?
Man, what a way to work off a hangover... visiting all those wounded people. Hope the hospital staff slammed lots of doors while he was there.

2. How wounded?
I'm betting that we're talking light injuries. The thousands of limbless, blinded, and horribly burned were far away from Mr. AWOL.

6. He was supposed to award PH to one terribly maimed, burned, amputated Sgt.
Indiana Green had a post earlier in the day on DU about this, and providing a link to yesterday's post detailing this man's horrendous injuries. His family was excited that Bush would be giving him a PH. However, if 51 medals were awarded, I doubt Bush paused long with this Sgt. Bad Presidential PR to have photos of Bush's unscarred self next to an earless, fingerless vet with massive skin grafts covering what is left of his body.

that chimp was kept away from that guy but met (briefly) with his family. No way is anyone on the little chickenshit's staff going to subject him to a person with horrendous deformities. He might pass out, or worse, break out in nervous laughter. He doesn't have the maturity to handle the situation and his handlers know it.

8. And the ring of truth under that statement is terrifying...
...because, as we all know, the "public" compassion of our fearless leader is light years away from the "policy" decisions he's made for our men and women in uniform. He sure loves them bedside photo ops, though...hug a grieving mom or two, go for a bike ride, and make some "crisp" decisions.

:grr:

9. What the spokesperson actually meant:
Chimp's New Year's Resolution is "to continue to avoid work at all costs while others suffer and die at home and abroad and his 'have and have more' cronies rake in many more millions."

12. Less Purple Hearts are being awarded now than any war in recent history
It was reported last week Bush has been stingy with awarding PH when compared to other wars.

Rove must have gotten the report.

13. photo-op or heart felt?
All they do is spin. He does not lead, he campaigns. How many times has he visited the wounded or graves of the dead or survivors or funerals?
