new Zogby poll
Asked me if I was proud or ashamed of George Bush.

Asked me what it would take, basically, for me to be okay with dropping a nuke on another country. Asked what country I thought was the biggest nuclear threat. (And included Terrorists in the list of nations.)

Asked about how I felt about military intervention in Iran.

Stuff about the economy, the war in Iraq, and the SOTU. Wanted to know what I'd rather be watching than the SOTU. I chose West Wing. That was the most cutesy question on the survey.

Nothing about impeachment. But a chilling set of questions.

7. Not big on nuking or invading.
Except in the one instance of the US being nuked. And then only because I understand the concept of mutually assured destruction so they HAVE to believe we would retaliate if attacked.

They wanted to know if we should nuke or invade Korea if they nuked Japan. Can you see China?

All I can think is George really wants to nuke SOMEBODY before he's forced out of the White House.

My mind thinks maybe there were some privacy questions, too. I am very pro privacy and not willing to give it up for anything.

Oh! It's coming back to me now! Katrina questions! Which was worse 9/11 or Katrina. I live in lower Manhattan, I said Katrina. Which would be considered worse in 30 years? I said, Katrina. Then some very evilly worded questions about government responsibility for disasters.

3. I did a Zogby earlier this week; in TX, there were a lot of
questions on abortion-did you get those? I also was asked and answered the proud vs. embarrassed question.

4. I'll probably get mine in the next couple of days
The administration won't like my answers.

This sounds like a poll they designed and paid Zogby to run.

9. It really does.

Especially the way they wanted to know if I was feeling better about Katrina yet. No, I ain't. No, it wasn't worded that way...just compared to 9/11 like I was supposed to be much more alarmed by 9/11. But I went thru 9/11 in my home. The air was fetid, the city was silent, but I was HOME and I had food and water and all my stuff. There is no possible comparison.

And by the end of the day, I knew where my relatives were and they knew where I was, including my uncle who walked home to Soho from the Bronx courthouse. Before the month was over, I had heard from all my friends who didn't check in the first day. By six weeks I knew which of them had lost someone, my old neighbor lost her cousin in Kantor Fitzgerald. My hairdresser lost his broker. My sister's godson lost his mentor who went back into the building, and he himself had to be evacuated from Battery Park.

There is no possible comparison.

I just finished the poll, too. I didn't like the wording or options
on a lot of the questions. Some were "leading" the person to have to pick one that was "least" offensive, and many just did NOT have the response that I would have chosen. Oh well, at least I got to say I was ASHAMED of Bushy boy.

14. I'm taking it as we speak
I don't like the wording of this question at all:

While I was in favor of the war in the beginning, I now feel that too many American soldiers have died and I don't see an end to the insurgent attacks. Therefore, I don't believe that we can last long enough to prevail, and should be withdrawn on a phased, but rapid, timetable.

The part is bold is the part I don't like. I was NEVER in favor of this illegal war, so I marked "not sure", even though I think we need a rapid drawdown of troops.

15. WOW..if you answer that question AT ALL it implies you were in favor
of the war to start with. This could be used to construe that MOST americans were in favor of the war to start with. :grr:

19. I gave the same answer.
But there were other places where you could say you were in favor of troop withdrawal. But a lot of questions with terrible answers.

17. Some ? difficult to answer, wanted to say 'gwb administration"
made me most scared. Are the parties/gvt living in pre911 or post 911 world? What does that mean? Why do I think Katrina had impact? none of the above were right as all of the above worked. 911 or Katrina worse? 911 made much of the problems with mrbush be possible, but again gwb was the worst. etc

18. Just Finished
This one had two peculiarities - the load time between screens was so long I think they were using the Pinhead's classmates to write down the answers by hand and there was a space to actually write in a response.

In the question about what is the most important presidential speech, there was a choice marked "Other" and a blank in which to insert your own choice.

Unlike most of the people responding here, I got the strong feeling the survey was commissioned by some organization of a more left-leaning bent. And I do agree with some of you that the questions were badly phrased in many cases and functioned like 'push-polls' at times.

20. Yes it was.. Took forever to complete
I answered "terrorists" to the question of who I thought was the US's biggest nuclear threat.

The "would you be for nuclear intervention if" questions were hard. If someone used a nuclear weapon against the US I don't know that I wouldn't be opposed to retaliation. I just wouldn't trust this president with the option. He might bomb Amsterdam or something.
