Yes, I am absolutely serious.

No insiders. No politicians. Two complete outsiders.

Two progressive outsiders. With their own money.

And popularity. Who will speak the truth.

11. He's also more successful and respected in his career to date
Of course, being a bad actor didn't seem to hurt Reagan's or Schwartzeneggar's getting elected. But maybe it is an indication that if you aren't very good at one career, you may not be that good at a second.

I hate to say it, but we're well past the point of who is most "qualified" to be president. Reagan and Bush II have proved you don't need to know shit from Shinola to be elected (?) president.

want to run for office. He has plenty of power and money now, no one to answer to. He can bring about change from outside public office. So I would be surprised if he ever did run.

Ben Affleck actually was a Clark supporter last time, as was Madonna. One of them might be more likely to actually accept the role.

Tell you what. If Clark shows any interest in running with any of the actors mentioned, I promise to support a different candidate.

Clooney isn't a slouch in the brains department..and he doesn't like what he sees going on in this country...but I also don't believe he wants to be on the front lines in that particular manner...methinks he prefers to do his politicking in other ways..

20. I saw Affleck on Bill Maher a couple of months ago...
He seemed to be a DLC middle-of-the-road-er who liked his guns and the sound of his own voice way too much, thank you.

George Clooney has very progressive politics, and so does John Cusack. And, both are very articulate when talking about their politics. I would prefer either of them over Affleck any day of the week. But truly... do you have any idea what the Republicans would do with a GENUINE "Hollywood" Liberal on our ticket? It would be U G L Y.

Don't even go there. I actually am embarrassed by even the joking suggestion that a sane person would base their vote on great looks. Enjoy them all you want, why not? But I would vote for Clark if he were a dwarf and vote against Bush even if he appeared as a youthful God or Goddess.

37. Good thing people have different tastes....
cause I think aanod is about as attractive as a mud fence..
but I do believe it is not only a known, but also a proven fact that being considered beautiful or handsome, does have it's rewards for the person lucky enough to be seen thusly...

I understand exactly what you are saying about the "screen test" thing, and how you don't want to go there...but I have had women tell me they voted for Clinton because of his looks only...I couldn't fathom voting for someone based on looks alone...but obviously there are those who could and do...

I have a young man (straight) staying here,(30yrs old) just out of curiosity, I called him in from outside, showed him the pictures(Clark/Clooney) that were posted, and asked what he thought about it as a presidential ticket...his response...now that looks like a winner to me..so there you go....just sayin, good looks, cannot be discounted...

I have been a Clark supporter since 2003...what brought me to him, wasn't his looks...it was an interview, on the TV, that I was listening to from another room....the man speaking was making so much sense, that I had to come into the room where the set was, to see who was talking...So see, Clark's intelligent manner of speaking drew me too him, originally, but to deny I thought he was also quite pleasing to look at, would be to lie...and I don't believe anyone could convince me that over the years, his good looks, haven't been a benefit for him...and perhaps sometimes have even been a hindrance..

As for the people out there who wouldn't understand this thread...geeze, I have to say, it's the first time I have laughed out loud about something, since Monday..take a chill pill maybe, relax...enjoy the thought, at least...cold reality will come back soon enough to haunt us all....I get a little weary of having to be serious as a heart attack all the time...

until I met him in person four days before he announced he was going to run.

I was enamoured with his brain, his foreign policy and diplomacy creds, his ability to speak easily about world events and his positions on the Iraqi war.

But, when I met the man in person, I was floored. I just hadn't thought of his looks at all.

56. Too late
Elections already are beauty contests. Have been pretty much since TV became the primary news medium. And maybe platforms aren't screen tests, but their content gets focus-grouped. What's the difference?

Hell, sometimes I think one reason Dems don't win very often anymore is because we don't play that game enough. We just got lucky that Bill Clinton had both brains and looks. We'll never elect another Lincoln, that much is certain.

I'd vote for Clark if he were a dwarf, but 99% of America wouldn't. :(

Any more shallow than voting for Bush? or Perot? Perot had no govt. experience.
Bush can't walk and chew gum at the same time, can't speak, and apparently that line about "just like riding a bike" doesn't apply to him.
