Edwards Not Enough Experience?
How many feel like I do that Edwards seems a little green? I would feel uneasy putting him in power after only one term in the senate?
He has missed some easy questions in the Debates as well. I really like him but my gut has an uneasy feeling that he could be in over his head.

1. This again??? No, I do not feel that way.
Abraham Lincoln had ONE two year term in the House as his experence, plus his years as a 'trial lawyer'. Yet, he did quite alright as President.

Harry Truman had seven years as Senator before becoming VP, then President. Didn't have a college degree. But he learned quickly.

FDR had one term as Gov, and Undersecretery of the Navy. Not a whole lot.

2. Twenty years of fighting overwhelming odds and winning
He's gone after teams of well-funded and very competent corporate lawyers and won time after time. He can get his point across and convince people better than any of the other candidates.

The man knows more about human nature than his years would suggest, and he's got the knack. The very lack of polish at times is an asset in itself: he has the feeling of someone who's very comfortable in his own skin.

This guy is no naif.

4. this excuse is more lame than "hes a lawyer"
he has studied and learned well in his time asn you would expect. Witness his comittee assignments, very nice ones for a freshman.

He's learned more in his time on the hill than most learn ever.

5. I don't think it in any way disqualifies him...
but I wish he hadn't decided to give up his senate seat. I like Edwards a lot, and if he doesn't win this year, he would still have a good future - as long as he retained his senate seat.

6. Same number of years in elected office
as Bush had. Edwards' experience in office was in the national arena as opposed to Bush's in a state where the governor's powers are weak. I don't think it really matters to the general public, and it doesn't matter to me. I think if he's the nominee it would help to pick a more experienced running mate, though, to hedge our bets.

7. it's not the time that bothers me . . .
it's the lack of foreign policy experience . . . in 2004, that's an abosolute prerequisite to being elected, imo . . . too much happening on that front for on-the-job training . . .
