2. Well, they're "hopeful"...
...they present it in the form of a question because they don't want to jinx the return of Junior's "Sunny Nobility."

3. I have a difficult time believing that....
Big-mouth Bush would not have mentioned this in his last campaign. It stinks all the way here...

4. Oh, how UTTERLY TRANSPARENT! "SPYING success"?! Puh-LEASE!
"SEE! If we hadn't been illegally spying, L.A. would've gotten hit!!"

Problem is, as I read it, a foreign intelligence service in SE Asia arrested one of the perps (NOTE: "arrested", not invaded, bombed, subjugated and entire people and hoped to pick up a few stray "terra-ists").
http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2006/02/09/terror/main1300711.shtml

To quote Bush himself: "The plot was foiled in early 2002 when a Southeast Asian nation arrested a key al Qaeda operative."

Also, the White House "would not say" whether the plot was foiled by spying program."

And even if NSA spying WAS used to help thwart this plan, there's STILL no reason why the secret FISA court couldn't have been contacted to issue a warrant, even up to 72 hrs after the fact.

But with the "liberal" media headlines, most people casually looking at the news will now say "Well, if it weren't for Bush's spying program, L.A. would've been hit just like New York.

I CALL BULLS&#*!!!

5. Utter B.S. Shoe bombers were used in this plan, the media reports
And in the 9-11 Commission Report (part 3.3 to be exact), the report says only 33 FAA Air Marshals were on duty as of 9-11 ! If Bush wanted to beef things up he should have done that prior to his Aug. 6, 2001 PDB, don't you think ?

As for this latest 'success', if foreigners were waylaid outside of the US, I fail to see how or why they'd be calling someone here in the states first. This is just more Bush-As-Savior bull#$! and he should be made to explain his domestic spying (Trolling for Dissenters for Karl Rove program) in detail in camera / closed session, with Democrats present, that is.

6. Sounds like there was no domestic spying involved in this.
Bush said it was intelligence from terrorists caught in Asia that foiled this. The announcement counts on the Saddam/9/11 mindset. They announce a success that has nothing to do with it and just by saying it, people assume they are related.
