US prepares military blitz against Iran's nuclear sites

Strategists at the Pentagon are drawing up plans for devastating bombing raids backed by submarine-launched ballistic missile attacks against Iran's nuclear sites as a "last resort" to block Teheran's efforts to develop an atomic bomb.

Central Command and Strategic Command planners are identifying targets, assessing weapon-loads and working on logistics for an operation, the Sunday Telegraph has learnt.

They are reporting to the office of Donald Rumsfeld, the defence secretary, as America updates plans for action if the diplomatic offensive fails to thwart the Islamic republic's nuclear bomb ambitions. Teheran claims that it is developing only a civilian energy programme.

8. Trident is undergoing a massive overhaul

I believe some can now carry cruise missiles -- something is in the works.

Being a Navy brat I can pick up "vibes" -- when the normal military "at ease" patterns change to tension and anticipation.

Before the invasion and occupation of Iraq -- I was merely near the Oak Harbor Naval Air Station and I knew that the Navy was preparing to go to war. No one thing that I could put my finger on -- just a knowing from taking my first breath of air in a military hospital and growing up military. Everyone else who was in the group with me near the Oak Harbor Naval air Station never detected any difference or hint of what was going to happen.

Now the preparation seems to be coming from the Sub service of the Navy (possible launch of cruse missiles or what ever else the idiots can think up to dump on Iran from the mighty sub fleet).

And damn I do hope that my military antenna is completely wrong this time. I don't want to hear about the deaths of thousands of innocent people. Plus this would be a huge huge economic catastrophe.

bushie's brains are in his gut -- I doubt that his alcohol/cocaine addled brain has any room for real contemplation and awareness of cause and effect. I hope that wise/cooler heads can convince bushie that if he pulls this stunt -- he just might get the attention of the American people who will overwhelmingly elect Democrats to get him the hell out of office.

6. The Authority to act pre-emptively against Iran doesn't exist.

That may not keep our * Fools from proceeding, but I would think that their fate--prompt removal from office--would be sealed. No sane argument can defend an Iranian incursion from the US.
