John Kerry on the New Katrina Revelations and Video
John Kerry on the New Katrina Revelations and Video
March 1st, 2006 @ 5:58 pm

As Ron reported here a short time ago, AP has reported today that Bush ignored warnings on Katrina. The evidence is damning — watch the video here.

The Democratic Daily just received the following statement on from John Kerry on his reaction to the news and video:

“The President knew what he said was unknowable, and didn’t ask any questions about expert warnings of the potential for massive loss of life and the failure of New Orleans’ levees.

Katrina exposed a lot about this Administration, and now this video exposes the extent to which the President hasn’t been straight about a disastrous response to crisis. Where exactly does the buck stop in this White House?

1. Bush lied... again!
Brownie even said that he was worried about the roof of the Louisiana Dome.

Chertoff and Bush are liars!

Or perhaps Bush lives in his own reality, for today Bush was saying that everything was just swell in Afghanistan, and this was right after Maples and Negroponte said otherwise.

3. They're already trying to distract from the content of the video...
"Editor & Publisher reports that “The video received wide airing on television news Wednesday night, as questions were raised about exactly how AP had obtained it.”

Watch for this to be Dan Rathered. Or NSA Wiretapped. As in, BushCo will make a big stink about who leaked this crucial information, declaring that the leaker has threatened national security, blah blah blah, and the fucking 34% sheeple will parrot it after hearing the usual half-dozen GOP spokesmorans repeat it ad nauseam on all the "news" shows. And the story will fade into oblivion, like everything else Bush does. He just makes it disappear. Like any good mobster does.

4. I not only can't get over what wasn't done,
I can't get over what WAS done.
Rescue and relief, from other states and other countries, was turned away.
Innocent people were locked down for days without food, water or medicine.
At least two babies at the Super Dome died from dehydration.
How many others?

:grr:

10. Woeful laxity, neglect, inattentiveness and criminal negligence.
It seems they actually schemed to create a larger crisis, in order to do political damage to the Governor and the Mayor. Now that you see how Don Brown was left hanging in the wind it's obvious they simply had left this country completely defenceless in their ridiculously overextended attempt to save face once they finally realized the disaster they had spawned in Iraq.

They simply had no National Guard emergency resources left to put on alert and were desperately trying to worm out of the huge domestic responsibilities they had carelessly banked on ignoring.

In retrospect it's obvious that like the 60-80,000 innocent "sand ni__er" Iraqi's Christian Fascist Bush murdered to chase one political opponent into a hole in the ground, the lives of tens of thousands of predominantly black Democratic voters are merely more meat for the Fuehrers sausages.

5. Olbermann said all news agencies got the tape on the day it was taped...
According to Comment #1 on the Democratic Daily blog - the link you gave...
"Keith Olberman said all news agencies had been given the tape on the day it was taped."

If they had it all along, why didn't they play it until now? :grr:

7. They did play it, as part of a docudrama about the storm coming
and they focused on the concerns of the weatherman ~ I remember being stunned that Bush was there and had been warned when I saw it ~ I don't know why they are focusing on it now, and not then ~ but I do remember it, and wondered why no one seemed to be too upset, or surprised that he was warned.

I also wondered where he was, he was hard to tell from the video ~ it's looking more and more likely that either he runs nothing, he's just a figurehead, or he is in league with the rest of them and they deliberately ignored all warnings about the storm. Either way, why is he still in power?

15. Okay, so if everyone has the tape, then why is AP saying it is exclusive?
Thanks for letting us know you saw it on Olbermann - I hadn't and was wondering if the poster on Democratic Blog was right about what Olbermann said.

13. just what in the hell does it take for a Democrat like Kerry . . .
to call for the impeachment of George W. Bush? . . . if this isn't sufficient cause, I don't know what is . . .

16. Impeachment happens in the House
The Trial happens in the Senate.

Why would Kerry call for impeachment? Isn't that for the House members to do?

19. Imagine how many lives could have been saved if Bush had cared
enough to get involved and ask questions.

Kerry must be so angry with all these cases of mismanagement coming out now. He knows if he were President, these things would have been handled correctly.
