Did US Know Iraq Had No WMDs?
http://www.commondreams.org/views06/0306-21.htm

<snip>

When the Bush appeal was made public, Hero Ibrahim Ahmed, the wife of Jalal Talabani, who later became president of Iraq, told me that she had personally filmed victims of Hussein's earlier gas attacks in 1987-1988. ''No one was interested at that time in my videos," she lamented.

In late spring 2003, Bush proclaimed ''mission accomplished" and I came home from Iraq. As I took my unused gas mask off my belt, my thoughts returned to Mrs. Ahmed's assertion that the Kurds had received no WMD protection because the West ''just didn't care."

No one could doubt that the Kurds presented an easy target for expected retaliation by the Iraqi regime, but I had to believe that once the support of the Kurds had been enlisted by Rumsfeld, then their survival became a genuine concern to war planners.

The alternative scenario was just too disturbing: that the Pentagon knew all along that the Kurds, an exposed population of almost 4 million, would have no need for masks. Could the White House have conducted the war with actual knowledge that there were no WMD in Iraq? Was that why no one saw fit to protect the Kurds?

1. The inspectors
did not find WMD's and said so. That is why bush kicked them out. He wanted to go to war and make no mistake about it. He did. It is all about wealth for the Americans not the Iraqi's. The oil companies owe the american soldiers big time.

knowledge that there were no WMD in Iraq?" Uh...yeah...Millions of us have been saying this for three years. Why does this guy act as though he has never heard of this concept before? He's a reporter and he is actually this clueless? Explains a lot...

It wasn't "faulty intelligence"! It was a fucking LIE!

3. ''No one was interested at that time in my videos"
This is what galls me--the gross hypocrisy and lies of BushII and his ilk. The "Saddam gassed his own people" mantra, parroted by the neo-Con fascists, grows tiresome considering that Reagan/BushI did nothing to take him out then. Why wait 14 years? The answer is obvious and it has nothing to do with Saddam's actions in 1987-88.

4. I am not going to go into it now.....
but there has been a ton of evidence out there for a very long time that shows, beyond a reasonable doubt, that Bush and his cronies lied us into war by telling us about nuclear weapons in Iraq and other WMD....it was a 100% lie, plain and simple!

This article is about 4 years to late.

5. Why is it so hard for people to get their heads around this fact?
Bush out and out lied. It was so obvious that the neocons orcestrated and plotted on how to win approval from the American People. I don't get how the media and the Democrats bought into any of it, when me the little old nobody caught on from day 1.

6. Millions knew but the only ones powerful enough to do anything
about it are the ones who profit from war. Most people bitch and complain but very few take the time to actually make themselves heard. What is the percentage of people who actually write their congress or contact the media, editors, or anything. Not many, because we are so disillusioned about our government that we do nothing, and atrocities like this happen.
