Who Is Protecting Patrick Fitzgerald?
(Sorry if this has already been discussed.)

Who is protecting Fitzgerald? Yes, most people may like to think of the wheels of justice running their course unaffected by external forces, but in this highest of high stakes games you would have to be naive to think that if Fitz was not being protected he wouldn't be approached and told that it would be in his best interests to drop this CIA action ever so gently.

So, who is protecting him, and why?

3. Basically, he's protected by being in the public eye.
He's less harmful to the administration so long as they are not seen to be obstructing his investigation in any way, shape or form. Fitz doesn't leak, so that also limits the damage and has allowed much spinning away of his efforts. So far.

If this perception suddenly changed, questions would be asked.

9. I don't think so
I don't buy this idea that being in the public eye protects him. Not at this level of the game.

Questions would be asked? So? Questions are being asked about bringing the entire country to war based on lies, but they seem to be fending those off pretty easily (with the help of the lapdog media of course.) Questions would be asked for a day or two, and then it would pass, and then Rove would be off the hook. And that means this whole admin would be off the hook (for this issue.)

If Rove is indicted, that is going to be big news, and big trouble for the War Party. They would hardly sit back and let that happen, unless they had no choice, of course.

28. In the 60's, lots died while in the public eye.
Each night I give a little prayer for Cindy Sheehan. Fitzpatrick deserves our concerns too.

11. Makes sense...
There must be both awful pressure and terrible threats (threats from secret organizations perhaps, but don't forget the 'average' Republican out there is just one beer away from either becoming a terrorist, vigilante or violent--ready to take their imagination of the law into their own hands). The powers that be wouldn't think of protecting him, and the rest of us aren't in a position to. Thus, it has to primarily be the highly public profile that's holding off the most dangerous (who knows, though, he may have agreed not to pursue certain things/limit his activities just enough--though I have no reason to distrust his integrity thus far and cannot imagine that he's taken this much of a risk unless he's both courageous and extremely idealistic (and both honest and of rigid integrity)) Still, it's almost surprising considering the ruthlessness of the opposition that he's not been somehow stopped (by some clever governmental trick, personal smear campaign or worse). Hopefully, if anything arises to obstruct his appointed rounds--WE will stand up and make enough noise through demonstrations that he's able to continue.

6. I am sure that he has protection.
And I do not need to know anything else. I will read the book in 5 years after
he brings down these thugs.

Pat F. started with 1 person and 4 indictments and brought down the Gov. of Illinois and a lot of others.

The Gambino Family in NYC he started with 2 people and ? # of indictments he wound up with
150 indictments and took the Family down .....

He knows what he is doing.

And we, The People, the public are watching him like a hawk...don't think the Administration hasn't noticed that.

And he's beaten both John Gotti and the Gambinos, and the Daley Family strangleholds on Chicago. And lived.

He was the first to bring in an inditement against Osama bin Laden, and lived.

He's had practice staying alive.

I believe he's also got a few Spook Guardian Angels that are very interested in seeing Fitz finish the work he began.

25. But you don't want to know how I paid them.
It involved a donkey, two nuns, a couple of AK's, peanut butter, three cats, snow, a Humvee and a bank.

Personally, Fitzy is awesome. I hope he has a very powerful few on his side.

30. I can't imagine too many "company" guys are real happy with Bush
after what he did to them, by outing Plame and shutting down her whole operation and jeopardizing (and even ending) the lives of agents around the world. I'm sure they have a vested interest in making sure Fitzpatrick stays good and healthy.

Besides, the idiot chimp knows that if things get REAL BAD, he can play the pardon card. Problem solved.
