The Connecticut Democrat Guest Worker Program
Edited on Mon Jun-19-06 01:07 PM by Tom Rinaldo
So it's reported now that former Connecticut Democratic State Chairman, John F. Droney Jr., is publicly urging Sen. Joseph I. Lieberman to skip the Democratic Primary:

"One ally has no doubts: Lieberman's old friend and Democratic state chairman, John F. Droney Jr., is publicly urging Lieberman to skip the primary, saying "every single weirdo in the left wing" enraged by Lieberman's support of the war in Iraq will turn out."

Let's see. The last time I checked, the Democratic Party in Connecticut gladly collects money from those "leftist weirdos". The Democratic Party in Connecticut also gladly employs thousands of volunteer work hours each November from those "leftist weirdos". So what is it that Ex Connecticut Democratic State Chairman John F. Droney Jr. is implying here? Seems to me he advocates some kind of "Connecticut Democrat Guest Worker" program. Anti-Lieberman Democrats are welcome to live in Connecticut and work for the Democratic Party in Connecticut, they can even pay "taxes" (donations) to the Democratic Party, but those weirdo leftists should not have a say in selecting Democratic Candidates. That's only for "real Democrats" like him, full scale Democrat "citizens" with the proper moderate credentials. Only they should get to determine who the real Democratic candidate will be. Letting "weirdo leftists" cast votes disqualifies the results of an election.

Why is it again that Senator Lieberman thinks the war in Iraq is such a noble thing? I thought it had something to do with letting people chose their own leaders. Well I suppose if Joe Lieberman leaves the Democratic Party and runs as an Independent, assuming he loses the Primary, that at least might tacitly acknowledge that Democrats get to run the Democrat that they choose.

This raises an interesting question though. Is Droney planning to leave the Connecticut Democratic Party himself then, if he chooses not to back the candidate that Connecticut "weirdo" Democratic voters choose? And will Droney urge the current Chair of the Connecticut Party, Nancy DiNardo, to start running the Connecticut Democratic Party as "an Independent", one who insults the majority of voters in an official Connecticut Democratic Party Primary? If so will folks like Droney continue to call on those very same "leftist weirdo" Democratic activists to toil away each November stuffing envelopes, making "cold call" phone calls, and ringing door bells for Democrats like Droney? You know, doing all the menial unrewarding jobs that "credentialed Democrats" like him aren't willing to do in Connecticut anymore.
