The issue of "democratic unity" was framed well today on CNN
Edited on Fri Jun-23-06 08:56 AM by Evergreen Emerald
James Carvel said that democrats are the only ones debating the issue. Republicans are brain-dead, following a "stay the course" political slogan that is not working.

He said that invading Iraq was the worst strategic blunder in 2000 years and that it will take more than sound-bites to get us out. He stated that because it was such a colossal blunder, the war in Iraq has no easy answers and vigorous debate is required.

The democrats are debating. They have debated numerous ideas from withdrawal immediately (Murtha who is talking to the troops), partition the country (Biden), redeployment with and without a time-table.

This vigorous debate is required, it is democracy, it is only being done by Democrats as the republicans sit by with their slogans ready and with empty heads.

5. Me too! I think she's softened him up, but he's still a fighter when he
gets especially passionate about an issue!

And of course, he'll always hold a special place in my heart for causing Novak to storm off the CNN set, resulting in his suspension! ;)

2. Someone should ask Carvel if he poured drinks at the Libby shin-dig
that his wife hosted at their house.

3. I know--the messenger has issues, but the message was well stated
And it is true. While the Republicans are good at campaigning, they are poor at running the country. The democrats could have gone behind closed doors and came up with one united front, but what is needed in this county is a debate about what is best for Iraq. Not a political campaign.

4. I got an email from him from the DSCC yesterday
The only thing I can think of now when I hear his name is the fundraiser for poor Scooter Libby.

He's lost credibility with me on that one.

6. You shouldn't
let a biased headline or story have that much influence on your opinion.
