5 year plan article quoting Wes Clark
quote.....
According to Gen. Wesley Clark, a senior U.S. military officer told him in the Pentagon as early as November 2001 that the administration planned, following the invasion of Iraq, to conduct campaigns throughout the Middle East and beyond. "Oh yes, sir, not only is it Afghanistan. There's a list of countries. We're not that good at fighting terrorists, so we're going after states: Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, Libya, Somalia and Iran. There's a five-year plan."

snip....

What they mean is that Syria has friendly ties with Palestinian nationalists and Lebanon's Hizbollah whom Washington labels "terrorists," and that "tightening the screws" on Syria for that reason is made more feasible by the assassination of Hariri---if only that assassination can be baselessly imputed to Damascus, which it obviously can be. (Remember the USS Maine!)
end quote.......

1. I remember General Clark speaking of this.
Edited on Fri Jul-14-06 09:07 PM by NCarolinawoman
It was even before he entered the primaries. He dared say the word, "Neocon" and "PNAC". He and a few others were desperately trying to warn people about this. Too bad most were not listening. David Brooks and countless others were implying that Clark was being a bit fanciful (to put it kindly).

I also remembering reading that when the Neocons signed that paper imploring Clinton to invade Iraq back in the 90's, they wanted Clark to be their General. They knew he was the "brilliant one", the one "who could get it right". That is one reason why Clark knows so much about the Neocons and what they are all about. Their bitterness toward him is clearly evident during the times he is pitted against them in debates.

2. The problem
for PNAC neocons, the Israeli hard tight, and everyone getting all the agendas under one unmbrella is that Junior/Cheney Incorporated are not really that enthused about anyone else's plans. Everyone else is regrettably confined to a convenient sucker status. Everything can wait except what is of most benefit for the oil guys in general and Bush in particular. Of course all that other stuff might happen. they just can't get into it or think all that much about it. Of course, the bigger the mess, the greater the opportunity so everyone, such as Israel, can go right ahead.

So long as Junior gets his.

Too bad the general public, like us, is not supposed to notice ANY of this, these big bad secrets, these oodles and noodles of violent atrocities. The poor Pentagon, in its regrettable role as servant of the Coup, is supposed to take this whole plan seriously, but never publicly mention it. Confused, they worry about all these wars the US is supposed to get into. They have no idea how little the war gods in charge care about most of it.

4. Seymour Hersh recently wrote that many Generals would resign
if Bush decides to attack Iran. These would be mostly the Marine and Army Generals. I'm not sure about the Airforce Generals. (I think I have to go back and read the article).

6. For some reason I'm having trouble making a link work but
the article was in the New Yorker last week so it is very easy to google.

Just write Seymour Hersh Iran Generals.

Lots of sites carried the article. One of the links took me directly to the New Yorker Magazine. Here are a few snips:

--------------------------------------"Inside the Pentagon, Senior Commanders have increasingly challenged the President's plans...."

"There is a war about the war going on inside the Pentagon........"

--------------------------------------

I see that the same old Neocon players are surfacing to convince Bush to go into Iran. An interesting twist is that Peter Pace, the head of the Joint Chiefs, is even telling Rummy not to do it because it would ruin the US economically. Scarey stuff, but interesting

but I'll go find it.thanks for recommendation

quote.....
A former senior intelligence official told me that people in the Pentagon were asking, “What’s the evidence? We’ve got a million tentacles out there, overt and covert, and these guys”—the Iranians—“have been working on this for eighteen years, and we have nothing? We’re coming up with jack shit.”
