Condi finds criticism of U.S. occupation of Iraq to be "grotesque"
Condi says Iraq has nothing to do with the instability in the Middle East: That’s Gross

Well she actually said "grotesque." Condi was on THIS WEEK and tried to downplay Dick Cheney’s speech that said the Middle East would be better off because of the Iraq war. That’s certainly not the case as we watch it play out everyday. She told George that:

Video-QT

STEPHANOPOULOS: But before the war in Iraq many argued that going into Iraq would stir up a hornet’s nest. The administration strongly disagreed and here’s what Vice President Cheney had to say in August 2002.

CHENEY (VIDEO): I believe the opposite is true. Regime change in Iraq would bring about a number of benefits to the region, extremists in the region would have to rethink their strategy of jihad, moderates throughout the region would take heart, and our ability to advance the Israeli/Palestinian peace process would be enhanced.

STEPHANOPOULOS: Extremists now appear to have been emboldened. The moderates appear to be in retreat. There is no peace process. There is war. How do you answer administration critics who say that the administration’s actions have unleashed, have helped unleash the very hostilities you hoped to contain?

RICE: Well, first of all, those hostilities were not very well contained as we found out on September 11th, so the notion that policies that finally confront extremism are actually causing extremism, I find grotesque.

2. The war in Iraq only makes sense if you are beyond the looking glass.
The extremists want war. That is what jihad is, a war pitting Islam against the West.

3. As if she's not a major player
in the "Theater of the Grotesque" herself.

Puh-leeze. This administration has done everything in its power to destablize the region and motivate and embolden the extremists. They turned a secular dictatorship into a battleground between religious sects and ethnic groups, and helped to tip the scales in Iran from democratization to increased hardline power.

Condi squawks and people listen, but the fact is that more and more people realize she's either lying through her teeth, or she doesn't have a clue what she's talking about.

9. It's quite logical when you come to think of it.
The misadmin's (and DLC's) take on foreign policy is ideologically-driven. Their groupthink (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Groupthink)/ideologically-driven POV (quite similar to cognitive dissonance) makes them believe that a=b, ignoring any and all data that disproves their preconceived notions.

So, since attacking Iraq was "right", any consequences of invading Iraq must be "right", and if "wrong", they're not the consequence of invading Iraq.

Ultimately we're dealing with a cult mentality here. These folks see black where there's white, refuse to contemplate precedents or even cause-and-effect. In this sense (as in many others) they are similar to fascists or (especially) falangists.

Communism was a threat that justified the unjustifiable as well as billions in defense spending over decades? The commies were nothing compared to our current regime... or the DLC 5th Columnists that share so much with it.

We can stand against it or fall through embracing it. History teaches us the lesson that so many GOP and DLC supporters refuse to learn.
