Howard Dean talks politics in long interview on KPBS, San Diego.

Scroll down to the Monday Archives. This is an outstanding interview so far. I have watched about 15 minutes with some more left to go.

They discuss NK, Iran, Iraq, moral values, and he just does an excellent job. He was there for Democracy Fest, spoke Saturday night, and had this interview yesterday.

She asked him about Busby, and interestingly he does not mention (nor does she) the election problems. He talked about them at DemFest, though.

He did say she would run again in November, and that it would probably be a much different campaign than this one.

3. He grinned and said he would not answer that.
Maybe not exact words, but that is the sense. I don't know either, just thought it interesting. Said there would probably be changes.

She was at DemFest as well, on a panel. I hear she had an interview with Bradblog as well.

6. He uses the words "different strategy in the fall here".
And he does not clarify. He does go after Bilbray's voting against minimum wage and for offshore drilling.

9. Interviewer gets a rather strange look when she asks about Hillary.
Edited on Tue Jul-18-06 10:17 PM by madfloridian
It is about 8:30 minutes in.

It is such an odd look. She asks Dean about whether Hillary can win. Of course he does not go there at all, says all possible 08 candidates need to be comfortable that the DNC is with them.

She almost makes a face. How odd. I can't figure out the word I should use to describe it. Changed my subject line, because I originally used the word "disgusted", but that doesn't get the gist of it.

10. On immigration, Dean says Hispanics will be in Dem column overall.
They were discussing how the "guest worker" program would depress wages here, Dean compares it to indentured servitude.

Host: In their efforts to use it to divide the country, is it working?

Dean: I can tell you one thing, it's pushing Hispanics hard into the Democratic column. Just like Pete Wilson did in 1994. We welcome Hispanics back into the party. George Bush got 40% of the vote in 2004, he couldn't get 20% today.

11. Another thing he said was that Bush listened to Neocons.....
instead of listening to the moderate voices in his administration.

12. whenever people repeat the "Dems have no ideas" meme
Just point them to any of Howard Dean's speeches.

Know it. Live it. Be an ambassador for change.

15. Dems always have well-thought out ideas - what they RARELY have is
a microphone that extends further then a local interview.

Even when Dean was here in NC launching his national door to door campaign a few months ago, the newspaper put up a few paragraphs and placed it on the OBITUARY PAGE.

I feel like I'm screaming into the wind with this RW control of most media. But it is certainly getting WORSE, not better, and I don't see any quick fixes coming before Nov 2008.

14. Kick while interview is still online.
I think they archive for a week. Worth the view. Full screen mode excellent.
