NEWSMAX REPORT - Charlie Cook: Debacle Coming for GOP
Edited on Tue Aug-01-06 10:40 PM by powergirl
Stories like this warm the cockles of my heart. I love how Republicans fret their doom unless a "cataclysmic event" saves the day. Please let this be true and get those war mongering jerks out of here.

The 2006 midterm elections will be a disaster for the Republican Party -- unless a "cataclysmic event" saves the day. That's the dire warning from political analyst Charlie Cook . . . (cut)

Cook doesn't mince words in his column, flatly stating: "All of the traditional diagnostic indicators in major national polls taken in the past 10 days show numbers consistent with an electoral rout (sic)."

In one glaring example, the latest Cook Political Report/RT Strategies poll, only 27 percent of respondents said the country was headed in the right direction, while 63 percent said it was off on the wrong track.

Cook rates the Democrats' chances of winning control of the House as excellent, while a Senate will be more difficult.

1. from Congressman Conyers blog tonight
However, words without pictures can be quite telling as well. I found Charlie Cook's latest analysis of the House Dems prospects in November, compliments of Kos, quite telling. After qualifying and hemming and hawing in prior posts, today he smells an "electoral route." I take this as a positive sign, but clearly, we need to all work together from here to November to help pave the way to victory.

2. Or as the Freepers would say, an electoral "route". Saw that one today.
It joins moran for moron, loose for lose, hugh for huge, and series for serious in the Freep hall of fame.

4. I made an edit so you won't think I'm a moran :)
I put (sic) next to "rout" so you won't think I'm a MORAN!. I wonder if they pronounce "rout" like ROWT (like owe! they way we do here in Texas) or do they pronounce "rout" like ROOT (like a tree). We might need a moran dictionary soon. :)
