Want to make your head frickin' explode?
AAARRRRRGGGGHHHHHHH, check out this "moderate's" post I came across on a discussion board I frequent: :banghead:

Most Americans really don't have a problem with healthy criticism. It is the hysterical screeds that some folks apparently think is legitimate criticism which has us flipping the rest of the world of. We are basically told that we are somehow stupid and criminal for not going along with "world opinion" as if European socialist thinking somehow represents what everybody in the world thinks. I've got news for folks, it doesn't! Most folks in the Muslim world disagree with European elite society and are rushing to Salafism (Islamic fundamentalism) in case you folks haven't noticed over there. And they disagree alot more than we do.

You'd think that the bombs going off in Europe would've awakened European society to that reality in life. But it hasn't! Instead, your elites over there and their lapdog mass media has blamed it all on us without one stitch of proof that we are in anyway to blame. They've reverted to plain old Neville Chamberlinism, despite the overwhelming evidence that it doesn't work and are peeved-off that we don't join them in hiding our heads in the sand and pretending that the problem will somehow go away. So, again, they blame us!

That is not everybody over there. But the minority who do have the power of the media to form "popular" opinion along the lines they want and many are gullible enough to believe them. Those and there fellows are the ones we are telling to go take a hike!

By the way, keep in mind that those who hate the current administration over here are a minority, only about 24%, the liberal base. They did succeed in making the vote a close one because they own the media (with the exceptions of the net, which is a level playing field right now, and talk radio, which is conservative because of the free market). Many people don't realise that less than half of the american voters are left or right politically. The left is about 22-24% and the right is a solid 25%. The rest are moderates, folks who hold a mix of left and right political beliefs (that is the group I fit in with). Its us moderates who pick our president over here.

Frankly speaking, the Democrats only presented us with radically left candidates for the presidency since Nixon fell. They fooled us with Carter and Clinton, both of whom they successfully portraid as moderate candidates, and both of whom revealed their radicalism in office. In the last two elections the Democrats were not successful in portraying as anything other than the radicals they were. That is why they lost both elections. American moderates cannot abide extremes of either position holding an office of the importance of the Presidency. And despite the media's potrayal otherwise, the electorate knows Bush is not a radical conservative. His fiscal policies at the moment abundantly demonstrate that as no extreme conservative would've let the national debt grow to the extant it has during his administration. Only liberals usually do that!

As I said at the beginning, we don't have a problem with constructive criticism. We've even adopted some basically European ideas and policies over the years which we felt were sound. But just like you folks reserve the right to your opinions over there, please do respect our right to decide for ourselves what is best for us over here. We don't mind going along with you Europeans and cooperating for the good of everybody as long as it won't ruin our prosperity over here. Too insist, as many over there do, that we bite the lion's share of the bullet when the impact of doing so is unproportionally burdensome on us with little, if any benefit, for everybody based on very questionable data (anybody remeber Kyoto?) is just a little too much to ask of anybody.

2. My favorite part's the bit about how "only liberals" let the nat'l debt...
get way out of hand. I suppose that's why the largest growth in the national debt always occurs under Republican presidencies?

9. I like to call people like this...
...the Upside-Down People.

Everything they "know" everything they "think" and everything they "believe" is Upside-Down to reality. This person tries to act in a moderate fashion, and is not too terribly incoherent. However, the spelling and grammar quickly give it away. There are a few little tid-bits in there that I can half-heartedly agree with, but on the whole, this person appears to have an Upside-Down view. It's that solid 25% that is mentioned. Upside-Down!

I really don't think there is anything we can do about them short of sterilization!

;-)
