Sticking it to Ken Blackwell in Southwest Ohio, Day 1

First off I did tons of GOTV in the inner city for Kerry in '04 so I already kind of knew I would have no problem if I asked African American owned businesses to display my Blackwell flyer. In fact the first one I walked into I asked if they remembered me from '04 and the barber said "sure you gave us the Eminem CD (burned copy of Mosh)

I explained I had a new thing and showed them my Blackwell flyer and told them Ken Blackwell was running for Governor and that in '04 he tried to prevent blacks from having their votes counted. Showed them the flyer, they said "stick it in the window".



Walked to the next barber shop, not one I remembered visiting in '04, told the female owner what I was up to and got an earful about blacks being told they were not registered, standing in the wrong precinct line etc. Even though I said I brought my own tape, she pulled out her tape and hung it in the window.



What makes this extra sweet is this was just blocks from where Blackwell grew up and today it was announced another local African American Republican Charles Winburn was spearheading his campaign.

7. It will mostly be barber, variety/music, beauty shops as far as asking the

owner. I hadn't thought about laundromat and of course they ate unattended.

I also do a lot at bus stops, but they don't last as long at least not in the CBC because they have downtown ambassadors "tidying" the city. I do empty free tabloid box display windows also.



In already graffiti ridden areas I use Super 77 Spray Adhesive by 3M which is vandalism don't you know, but I call it poor man's advertising

I doubt it helps the fundraising, but it effectively swings votes through awareness.
And that's always the bottom line.

11. I always do this stuff on my own, the official Ds don't put a lot of

effort in the low income areas which I think is a mistake because if you were in Ohio in "04 you know anyone who set foot on an urban sidewalk got registered. We just have to motivate people to be as motivated as they were in '04 and hating Bush and Blackwell are some powerful motivators.

We may not realize it but outside of lefty blogs folks may have a sense that we got screwed in '04 and not realize it was Blackwell personally who helped orchestrate the screwing.

Great work "buddy57" - will try the same approach in Ward 2. BTW, Winburn drags the average IQ of Kenny Boy's
local campaign staff down into double digits. Karl Lindner now has an excuse to line Winburn's pockets with some
