5 years after 9/11 the US has not lost a single allie and have actually gain at least 2 friends.Now Afghanistan and Iraq are partners against terrorism.Aghan and Iraqi troops are fighting side by side with US troops in the battle with terrorists.100's of thousands of these troops risk their lives everyday not only for themselves but for a new friend.

And the Afghan and Iraqis now have elected governments that are generally popular with the people.

French and German troops are right there with us in Afghanistan and parts of Africa.The US had more allies in the second go around in Iraq than the 1st go around in 1991.Many NATO nations are still there helping the Iraqis keep the democratic government that so many died for.

France and Germany has promise to play a great role in Lebanon.And just recently Chirac said that hezbollah would soon caused trouble and he knows that French troops will soon be in danger.So it's not like they think they are safe but nonethe less they are there.And DW site is reporting that Merkel is saying that the spread of democratic ideas in these regions are important in fighting terrorism.Sounds alot like Bush doesn't it?

Now, for something closer to the truth.

Yeah, many of our traditional allies are still 'formally' with us--as it serves their interests; just wait until we face hard times, that's when you find out who your friends really are.

If you were about to be in a fight against some kind of gang, and you asked your friends/neighbors for help, and among your neighbors you have several current and former prize fighters, a few wrestlers, and U.S. Marines... Would you consider yourself well supported if the only volunteers were a few of the more sickly, elementary school children--and they couldn't actually come out to help because their mommies said it was a 'school night'? So, in the end, all the help that you could actually call "help" was your pal Winston (and he's a little guy with a bad back). You remember a decade ago when you were facing a similar proposition (but that time it wasn't of your own making--you hadn't deliberately provoked a personal confrontation). That time, when you asked, you got a whole posse of the really tough fighters--all of them well over 200lbs of pure muscle and trained to fight. You really kicked some ass that time.

Still, when asked, you claim that of the two fights, in this second fight you had more allies because you had the promise of 20 children under 10 years of age versus the 18 grown, armed men the previous time. After all, 20 is a bigger number than 18... Dang, you smart--you real smart.

Alas, you claim the people "generally" find their "elected" governments "popular". Ouch. That's like the family next door deciding to do things "Democratically". Dad, who controls the finances, owns the house and cars and is generally a hard-ass and treats his wife and children as property--decides to play along. Somehow, some way... when the election is held--he's elected President. His kids, fearing the belt (as my dad always called it: "Vitamin S" where "S" is for Spanking) and knowing their allowances depended upon their choice... voted for Dad. Mom, on the other hand, recently recovering, and hiding the fact by wearing Sunglasses at night, from a black eye... never even considered accepting the Presidency had she won. Now, my friends, that is American Style Democratic Nation Building. If asked, those kids and their mom will be damned sure to say Dad is real popular. Still, it may be an improvement--before the change, Dad wouldn't even let his daughters attend school. He only does it now, because his Boss at work is a big supporter of letting girls become educated (heck, it was only to please his Boss, whose family is run according to another pretend Democracy, that Dad's even going through the motions of "Democracy").

Now you're telling me that 100's of thousands of troops from countries like Pakistan are putting their lives on the line for us. You are suffering from either a shortage of information or a delusion, take your pick. The Pakistanis carefully avoid actually finding or confronting any but the smallest collection of armed men. Indeed, they recently announced formally that they weren't going to pursue Bin Laden; though they would allow us to do so--provided we did it with a very limited number of troops. And, I quote: "Press secretary to the president of Pakistan tells ABC Osama bin Laden will not be captured if he agrees to live 'peaceful life". Do you figure Osama's secretary would be stupid enough to tell the Pakistanis--and more importantly, the international news media--that he's there to do other than live a 'peaceful life'. Certainly living such a peaceful life is what he wants--and that meeting with and suggesting ideas to others who choose to pursue the sacred and holy 'war' against the 'great Satan' in no way deters from such a "peaceful life". It's truly sad to think you actually believe that Pakistan is doing anything real or sincere to stop terrorism or be a real "friend" to the United States. Even the little they do, do, will probably get President Pervez Musharraf assasinated.

And if you think the new IRAQ is any kind of ally, again you're mistaken. The guy we've currently put in charge (oh, of course, "let be elected") has surprised us by supporting Hamas and he just went over to Iran to meet with Ahmadinejad (looney/dangerous) to discuss their mutual... uh... security (wink, wink). As friends go, it resembles our causing one of our hated enemies to have a bad car wreck and then pulling them out of the burning car, taking them to our personal clinic, putting them in traction and making it clear that if they want to live, they've got to "be our friend". They can't even stand up, and we've always known that they were the type of person to say or do whatever appeared to be in their interests; telling everyone what they want to hear, but doing whatever pleases themselves regardless of what they've told anyone. Some friend, with friends like that, we need a psychological evaluation. We'd be better off with more enemies.

Well, I hope you recover soon. I know how hard it is to overcome those mental/mind viruses you're suffering with, but the only cure is searching for the real truth and not settling for what feels good on the surface. So study hard, seek a deeper understanding and with lots of luck, you too will heal and finally become a rational human being.

Nope - I don't see any of those. I see plenty of proxies that tow the line, plenty of others that are acting as mercenaries or under coercion. In the war for Iraq - not a single ally.
