From the Department of Raucous Laughter...
George Allen and the noose

It looks like George Allen is trying to clean up his image on race before a possible presidential run:

Senator George Allen, a Virginia Republican accused in the past of insensitivity on race issues, introduced a bill on Tuesday to apologize officially for the Senate's role in blocking antilynching legislation through decades of killings across the South.

...In his 2000 campaign to unseat Senator Charles S. Robb, Democrats and civil rights groups accused Mr. Allen of racial callousness for having displayed a noose in his law office and a Confederate flag in his home.

Mr. Allen described those as parts of collections of flags and Western memorabilia. "I had all sort of Western stuff in my office," he said, characterizing what others called a noose as "more of a lasso." He said, "It has nothing to do with lynching."

It was a LASSO, okay, folks? Cowboy George says so. "He's a cowboy who never roped a cow, Never roped a steer 'cause he don't know how, But he learned it all on the radio... yippee-yi-yo-ky-aaaa!" Or something like that...

Macaca!

1. "Yippee-yi-yo-ky-aaaa, mother f*cker!" God, hate to quote Bruce Willis.

Actual quote from Die Hard, slightly edited:

John McClane: Yippee-ki-yay, motherf*cker.

Edit to add quote

2. From Josh Marshall's Talking Points Memo:
The weird thing is, as Ed Kilgore pointed out back in April, it's not even like George Allen is even a southerner. As Ed wrote then, "Allen's whole cowboy-boot-wearing, tobacco-chewing, country-music-loving Southern Man routine was something he cultivated during his formative high school years in the hyper-exclusive Southern California community of Palos Verdes."

Pampered suburban snot-nose wimp affects rugged cowboy image. It just doesn't get any sadder than that...

4. But it's a familiar theme...what's the difference, really between
Palos Verdes and Phillips Andover, when you're talking about income and social circles?

3. Well, he got this IDIOT brother to come to his aid....
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2006/09/12/AR2006091201541.html

Talk about a fucking PUTZ...he ENDORSES the clown without knowing his TRUE POSITION on a matter of key interest to him; this bozo needs to be brought up SHORT:

RICHMOND, Sept. 12 -- A senior Democratic state lawmaker endorsed Republican Sen. George Allen's bid for reelection Tuesday, after having earlier criticized Democrat James Webb's position on affirmative action.

State Sen. Benjamin J. Lambert III (Richmond), who is black, praised Allen in a letter on his senate stationery released yesterday by the Allen campaign.....In April, Lambert endorsed Webb's Democratic primary opponent, Harris Miller, and joined several other leading black lawmakers in questioning Webb's support for diversity programs for African Americans.

Since he became a candidate for the Senate, Webb said that he supports affirmative action for blacks but not as a broader program aimed at helping other minorities. "I'm a strong supporter of affirmative action in its original intent, which is to help African Americans," Webb said in June.

Webb spokeswoman Kristian Denny Todd said that it was "quite a surprise" to learn of Lambert's endorsement of Allen. "Not too long ago, Jim had a very productive meeting with Senator Lambert, where his concerns were addressed," she said. "We feel confident that we will move ahead in unity with African Americans to win in Virginia."

Asked if Allen supports affirmative action, Wadhams said he "supports affirmative recruitment, actively seeking out opportunities for minorities. He does not support quotas.".....

5. Clearly, Cowboy Macaca threatened to put Benjamin's head in the
noose...Either that, or Cowboy Macaca told Benjy "You're my favorite macaca!"

Won't someone save state Sen. Benjamin Lambert?

6. I think Lambert is a dolt who let his irritation at Webb blind him
He backed the wrong horse in the Dem primary, and he doesn't know how to fish AND cut bait at the same time. Ya toss your support to the VICTOR, the one that was chosen by the same baaaastids that chose HIM.

Sometimes, ya gotta go with the choice of the damn PARTY...a lesson JoeMentum up in CT failed to learn as well. He could have trouble with this pisspoor choice down the road...
