Democrats! Are your silverware drawers straight?
This is what Tweety thinks of Democrats (from a discussion of GOTV):

MATTHEWS: I always thought that if you went to the movie theater and you got there on time, and you saw who came in late, Democrats—I would bet Democrats are always late for the movies. Because they are not as organized as the Republicans. They are not the kind of people that organize their paycheck, organize this, figure out this, put all the spoons together in the drawer exactly right, like Republicans do. Aren‘t they, by their nature, a little sloppier than Republicans and it‘s showing up?

What a shallow, shallow man.

5. Stupid comment, but I think it's the obvious
No real way of proving Republicans are sloppier but since they typically have other people so all their work for them, I'd say they would be sloppy if left to their own devices. Right now they probably expect Democrats to repair the damage they did to the government.

8. I'm a flaming liberal and incredibly retentive
Edited on Tue Oct-24-06 12:21 PM by BOSSHOG
Everything is incredibly organized in our household because of me. All of our bills and financial papers are neatly in order and two feet away from me. My clothes are folded are certain way and immaculately folded in our drawers. The silverware is always in the right place. I could navigate in our kitchen blindfolded. Even my beer is in its proper order in the fridge; oldest in the back, labels facing forward.

I am always early for any event as any of my former Sailors would tell you since they all got the "if you are on time you are late" lecture.

I will be the first at the voting precinct on 7 November to vote for every democrat on the ballot. Gosh chris I guess your just as informed about democrats as limbaugh is about parkinson's medication.

And all the bills in my wallet are in denomination order, all on the same side and face side up. Retain that bitch!

13. Happily married
for 32 years, but no kids. I was in the Navy for 24 years and my "kids," sailors were very organized (or else.) I found order and organization to be great tools to achieve mission. My philosophy was that someone could step right up and do my job in my shop tomorrow if I dropped dead without needing a time consuming and laborious "turnover."

And my "kids" consistently got more liberty time then Sailors in not so organized shops.

I only wish they made all books the same size. My bookcase looks so unkempt.

Sometimes I drive my wife a little nuts.

My Dad also did a stint in the Navy and he's chronically DISorganized. But he was only in for 3 years, so maybe he just didn't give it enough time.

And, come to think of it, when we'd go camping or sailing as kids, he was pretty together.

Edited on Tue Oct-24-06 12:21 PM by Pirate Smile
something I heard from some political analyst, maybe it was Tweety, I can't remember who it was but I think it is true.

Democrats care more about people; Republicans care more about property.

As a Mom with small kids, every so often I have to remind myself that the time I spend with them, teach them, the atmosphere of our home and our life is more important then if the house is spotless.

Matthews framed that in an extremely stupid and shallow way but it did remind me of some basic values differences between the two parties.

Republicans - give me my tax cuts, if that means we don't help poor kids with health-care or school lunches or help injured veterans with their recovery then so be it. Me, Me, Me.

I ALWAYS arrive at least 20 minutes early to find a good seat etc...

My family feels I am a bit excessive with the silverware and dishes. I believe strongly in being able to find what I want when I need it.

In a family of four with two pre-teens, don't get me started on dishwasher loading....

Respectfully, Mr. Matthews, your asshat is showing.

15. "I don't belong to an organized political party."

"I'm a Democrat."

Just sounds like Tweety is a fan of Will Rogers. Hardly anything knew. And something I always thought Democrats were somewhat proud of. We're a bunch of independant sorts, not like the lock-step authoritarians in the Republican party. Or as I like to say it...

Democrats put the "party" in party politics!

20. Not completely off of the mark.
(FYI, I'm moving back out in early Nov.).

Livng in Broward County, the strongest Dem stronghold in Florida, and one of the strongest, percentage-wise, in the nation, I have a bit of a first hand view of the get-out-the vote effort.

I live in the the suburb that is Jim Davis's headquarters. It was also Kerry's Florida headquarters....solid blue.

I recieved 2 mailings today ( bit of a backstory....my father is a "registered" repub who hasn't voted republican since dukakis-Bush, I'm unafilliated, and my mom has always voted straight Dem.).

1 for me, one for my dad. Both republican sponsored. My dad gets the red-meat leaflet (which doesn't mean a damn considering his disdain for ant republicans not carved from the Lincoln Chafee mold) ; I get a piece of bullshit attempting to convince me to vote for Chirst, ans several other repubs. Why haven't I, let alone my mom, recieved any "get out the vote" maile from the Davis campaign?

2 years ago I was a poll watcher for the Kerry campaign; before that, I did indirect polling on behalf of the same campaign. I had to jump through goddamn hoops just to figure out where I was wanted, and all of the out of state "help" certainly didn't help.

I mean, goddamn, I live a mile and a 1/2 from th former Kerry Florida State headquarters, and I was bieng bounced between a bunch of under-caffinated staffers from the great white north.

I nearly gave up out of F-----ing frustration.

The Democrats DO need to get their house in order.

Why have I only recieveved direct mail from Christ? Why hasn't my mother recieved jack squat from the Davis campaign; which is in a virtual dead heat? Why the hell should I volunteer for someone who doesn't give a damn if he is known in a county that gives 100-200K surplus Democratic votes?

25. In all seriousness, I think Mathews may be confusing individual
organization with authoritarianism. Individuals may or may not be "organized", but the republican party, with it's top down structure and distrust of dissent is authoritarian, and organization helps it stay in control.

30. I don't know about that. I'm pretty organized.
My silverware drawer is totally organized. Our budget is fully laid out, printed, and attached to the side of my husband's desk so he can look at it every month when he pays the bills. We fold our underwear before we put it in the drawer. My office desk is the cleanest on my hallway. My files are color coded and alphabetized. I plan meals a week in advance and make a grocery list based on the meal plan. Heck, we even have a check-off chore list on the refrigerator and there are no children in my household (but we don't get gold stars when we finish our work).

Looking at the above list, it actually struck me how anal retentive my husband and I are. No wonder we are boring. :-D But we do have a very clean house and we never miss payments on our bills.

Anyway, we are voting Democrat this fall. So much for Tweety's theory.

I also just remembered the most anal retentive person I know. This guy is so tight you'd get the proverbial diamond with a lump of coal. He makes me look like an irresponsible loser, he's so anal retentive. And he's voting Democrat this fall also.

46. I would like to see how Republicans...
..."organize their paycheck." They are pretty darned organized if they know how to organize an individual item.

It's true, though: the Repubs have a detailed plan for everything. Like how to make war the last resort in Iraq and how manage the invasion and occupation, how to keep the Axis of Evil from developing nukes, how to leave no child behind, and how to create an accountability era. They keep those plans neatly organized and carefully untouched, in the same room where they store the Ark of the Covenant and the possessions of Charles Foster Kane.
