I teach in VA and Allen came to the football game last Friday. My school has a high percentage of minority and low income students. Our opponents are in a wealthy white part of town. The game was at our home field however Allen never ventured away from the visitor side. Allen wanted to toss the coin before the game; but school board members and the school board office (one or the other or both) recommended that he not venture onto the field because they were afraid that our kids would greet him with cat calls/ chants of macaca! That would have been great!
but I am getting a really sick feeling. When I voted today in Norfolk- a Democratic stronghold (and my precinct ALWAYS votes strongly Democratic)- there were 2 machines down and guys that them torn open. They said they had problems all day. There were also cops in their cars sitting at both entrances to the polling place. :grr: :grr: :grr: :grr:
