OK, here goes. Dem's control the Senate (VA and Montana) and does this
mean the Joe Loserman will be marginalized somewhat?

Less power than in a tie, still potential for trouble though.
In close votes he'll bargain for his support. With everyone.

1. no. Why would it?
Aside from the war, Webb is considerably more conservative than Lieberman.

10. Shhh. Enough with those "facts". Don't you know Lieberman is a Republican?
He lives solely for the purpose of ruining our majority. That is his only quest in life.

2. No, his power will INCREASE
Unless he is allowed to keep his seniority, then I could see him bolting to caucus with the Republicans. If we could get Olympia Snowe to bolt from the GOP, then we would have a Liber-proof majority.

8. This keeps getting more and more interesting. I guess Bernie Sanders plays a big role too?

3. If Webb is confirmed as winner...
That does not bode well for Joe getting a high pick on office space. I would think that somewhere along the way, there will be some lessons in humility and adherence to certain political traditions.

4. Unfortunately, probably not. HolyWarJoe has the party by the cojones.
They should have gotten behind Ned from the start, rather than trying to sweet talk Joe into withdrawing(that is, if they actually TRIED to get him to withdraw, and since a lot of them hate progressive activists, they may have been secretly encouraging HolyWarJoe to stay in the race.)

5. sadly, no
With Virginia and Montana, we have 51 senators counting Lieberman. It actually gives him a whole lot of power, if he switched, we'd be back to a tie.

Personally, I think he's too politically savvy to throw away his Senatorial future by switching parties, tho.

7. Joe will be welcomed back
into the fold and probably given a chairmanship and all will be forgiven and forgotten-it's a smart play

11. Nope, if both VA and MT go our way, we're at 49-49....
...with two Independents.

If Sanders votes with us and Lieberman votes against us, it's 50/50 and Cheney still decides.

We still need to placate Loserman to insure a majority....and that's assuming Sanders always votes with us.

12. Lieberman won't be stupid enough
to shoot himself in the foot by going farther right than he has. He knows the results of the elections on a national level. Joe likes to be on the winning side. He kissed up to Bush, Cheney and the rest of those goons not because of his principles (he has none), but because he thought it was the way to make himself more popular and powerful. Now with the GOP considerably weakened I don't see him being foolish enough to still suck up to them. He doesn't care about Republicans or Democrats. He cares about himself and whatever the way the wind blows that he thinks will make him most popular, that is the way he will vote.
