A Hint of Possibility in the Air

This is an article written by Garrison Keillor, and it basically relays what I feel regarding this election. I have not been gracious at times to certain Democrats in Congress because I have seen them play the status quo game and yes, enable Bush by voting for his appointees, his bills, and basically giving him credence, and I won't be gracious to those who continue to do so because it has been detrimental to this Democracy.

And since the theft of the 2000 election and having our rightful President taken from us, I have also grown cynical and disillusioned about a system that would condone such a crime. So much so that I was contemplating not voting in this election after being disappointed so many times before. However, I am not one to shirk my duty as an American citizen, and even though I did not trust the electronic machine I voted on I did it anyway and I did it because even though I may be bitter and cynical about a system and government that I believe let me down, I still have hope.

I still have that distant hope that after all this country has been through, that the goodwill of men and women will win out. And it is that hope that will carry me through and make me even more vigilant of this new Congress and not allow me to ever give up on what I believe in. So putting aside that bitterness and disillusionment for a moment, I truly wish the best for all of those elected regardless of Party, and I do pray to the Supreme Being that guides the fates, that this will truly be a time when hope brings about action in seeking accountability, working to stop the war drums, working to fight poverty and hunger, and working to sustain our planet. That is my constant hope, and that hope is my strength.
