No dynasties...Stop Gore in 2008...
Al Gore has been on the ticket 12 of the last 16 years...

And now people want him on the next two!!!

That would make a Gore on the ticket for 20 of the last 24 years...

This is madness...HE MUST BE STOPPED!!!!

:sarcasm:

1. Yeah
And he won every time.

Now you might say he lost the last time, but you need to remember that he won, but the people lost.

I say we stick with a real, proven winner. More Gore!

8. Yeah
Time to move on and recover what is rightfully ours! A Gore presidency. If Al will have us. I wouldn't blame him if he said "screw yall." But he probably won't. He knows he should be the president today, but the people, losers that they are, are just itching to move on.

11. Agreed
People are "itching" to move on, but it is not with Al Gore. He has serious competition.

13. That's OK
Serious competition is nothing to Al. Look at what he's tackling now... the major industrial polluters across the whole world! You can't get any more competition than that, or a cause with any more worth.

The dem competition is nothing, not even Kerry stands much of a chance.

18. Welcome to DU
Buckle up and hold on... unless you've been thrown out of here before and are just now finding your way back, I warn you that you are in for one hell of a primary ride!

Hillary and Obama are nothing but media caricatures. They both have so much baggage that the media is salivating over covering their peccadilloes. They want one or both to be caught in the M$M crosshairs... it'd be like shooting fish in a barrel.

Kerry, now there's another president who won, but the people ended up the losers. I guess you just want to keep moving on, eh? Right off another cliff with the rest of the lemmings? LOL (I warned ya about rough, and I'm just like 200 grit sandpaper, wait to ya run up against some of the 60 grit stuff lying in wait.)

Right over the cliff? I see it too. I didn't think it was that evident, but if you see them tanking like Joementum, I agree.

Gore is in the back of most people's minds and in the front of all those who long for the days of real statesmen. Now that's a presence. Like a rock. Like a rock about to roll over the lesser, mere politicos like Hilliary and Obama.

26. It's the media
Too many people are still hooked on focks news and the cable fables. They take every thing the M$M says with a spoonfull of sugar - like having a pepsi or cocola.

The media is focused on the two because the M$M will make mincemeat of either one. Remember *swiftboat*? Well, you ain't seen nothing yet.

34. The revolution
will not be televised.

The very fact that both statesmen's elections had to be stolen despite the very heavy hand of the media is proof of the media's limited power.

Now that we are about to completely return to real elections - as the 2006 election shows - either man will easily win the election in 2008. But we're not quite in the safe zone yet. Too many machines are still being used to count our votes.

Selah, thanks for the chit-chat, but this old man must retire for the eve. See you on the dark side of the moon, eh?

44. Yeah it's always the media's fault
Another of DU's excuses de jour when things don't go well for your own personal favorite candidate.

If the media likes Obama, it's because Obama made it that way, not because the media simply feels like picking someone to suit their needs.

Yup, that darn media told Kerry not to fight back. They told him to dress up in the middle of his campaign in camouflage for a photo op and go out and shoot some geese to win the votes of the gun people. I'll bet the media also told him to make that dumb remark about Cheney's daughter, the *lesbian*, at the worst possible time. I suppose it's the media's fault that Kerry sucked as a candidate and failed to connect with the American people.

Obama won't have that trouble. He's already got that connection and he hasn't even tried yet. If he gets *swiftboated*, I'm sure he'll come up with the right words to say to shove it all back into their faces, unlike Kerry who couldn't find a single thing to say on behalf of his own self.

So what if the media is just as charmed with Obama as the rest of the country is. That's a good thing.

3. Who cares how many times they run. He's only been in office 8 years.
And that was as VP. Being an 8 year VP doesn't create a dynasty nor is electing a former VP president a dynasty.

There's nothing to see here.

15. What a stupid construct in the OP...as if individuals and political dynasties are the same!
Edited on Mon Dec-11-06 11:21 PM by Clarkie1
Most silly OP I've seen on DU in a long time.

There is a legitimate argument against political dynasties, whether you agree with it or not. The election of Hillary would support political dynasties that have been in power for 16 years (more if you count H.W. Bush as Reagan's VP). For many of us, it's too much and enough is enough.

We are a country of millions of families, not just 2.

Down with oligarchy and the poltical "elite," they have no place in America! :-)

17. There has been 0 dynasties in American history...
Edited on Mon Dec-11-06 11:39 PM by SaveElmer

Dynasty defined as: "A succession of rulers from the same family or line."

This post was a response to the ridiculous post noting that a Bush or Clinton has been on the ticket for the last 26 years or something...when in fact the same thing could have been said about Mondale or Gore...

Just another stupid attempt at Hillary bashing...

on edit:I have been up too late...by the strict definition of the term there has never been a dynasty in American PResidential politics

Not saying everyone who disagrees with your reasoning are also of the "no dynasties" mindset, but suddenly we're hearing some "allowances" on Gore that contradicts the base principle behind the "no dynasties" idea.
