1. The results in Iowa contradict every poll so far.
But any poll a year out is pointless.

19. Maybe we can call him Ole in Minnesota. It'll help him relate since a few people...
...on DU with nothing to base that on seem to think his race will be an issue in the Midwest. :sarcasm: (This isn't referring to you ;) )

I'm not an Obama fan, but race won't be an issue for him through most of the Midwest states. He's going to be competitive IF he runs.

I'm sure Wisteria can take the heat, just like most people can take it about their favorite candidates. Do you ever stop whining?

14. I'm not whining
I just want to draw attention to the fact seemingly show up every time Kerry's name is mentioned. At least some of the other opponents of Kerry on this board seem to take time off. Now you seem to have expanded your franchise into bringing up Kerry to Kerry supporters when they aren't even talking about him. You obviously wanted to start something, so here I am.

Uhh, it was you who jumped in on things, so let's be honest about who wanted to start something with who. But what, is that supposed to be some sort of a challenge or something? Good gawd.

in a thread that's not about him, to a poster who you know is a Kerry supporter, was not a challenge "or something"?

9. actually...the only poll that matters is in the election booth.
So she's absolutely right. And the second most important poll is the EXIT POLL. So a poll done at this point is merely polling how well the media is carrying the message.

35. The problem is not the polls..but the way people use them...
These polls are not predictive of a future outcome, they were never meant to be. They give a fairly accurate snapshot of the relative strength of each candidate today...that is all.

They show Hillary and Obama, and Edwards currently, as of now, commanding the support of a plurality of Democrats. This says alot about their popularity, media coverage, fundraising...lots of things.

It shows what candidates lower in the polls have to overcome...

It does NOT predict an outcome 23 months from now!!!

36. Hillary has peaked and running on name
clinton. once the campaign starts and she actually has to go out and mingle with the "little people" she'll drop as she is not one to like mingling with the little people. She invites the state's party reps to her castle and expects to be anointed Queen.

Good gawd, that shows how much you DON'T know. In every area of NY where she campaigned, especially during her first time around, it was BECAUSE she liked mingling with the "little people", as you call them, that she won over as many people as she did. Try going to a speech of hers sometime and see if she doesn't hang around afterward to personally meet anyone after she's finished speaking, just to say hello or shake her hand. She's more than acomodating to the "little people". Nice try.

37. election
I think Hillary can win the general election against McCain, but it will be close.

However, I would prefer to see Edwards/VP Clinton, or at least Edwards as President instead of Hillary, but I'm not sure Edwards can beat McCain, unless of course McCain decides not to run or retires.

Look the folks who go to the Caucuses are activist and left of center. this is not a poll of likely Caucus goers.

Meth. The Other Crack

Polls at this point are like Meth or crack...pretty meaningless.

The primaries don't start for almost a year from now. That is infinity politically. People like Ed Muskie, Joe Lieberman and Wendell Wilkie were frontrunners at this stage of the election cycle. What great presidents they turned out to be...

41. And she has more name recognition than any candidate could possibly hope for.
I think things will change remarkably when voters get to know some of the other dems we have in the field. Hillary's base is already established and those who aren't already in her camp are unlikely to convert. This essentially means that the other dems have every opportunity to build momentum and support, while Hillary and her camp have every opportunity to lose it.
