1. I don't think that you could say it was only Dems, there wasn't the political divide then as there

is today. So many times people try to put the past in to today's context and it just doesn't work. I really hate it when someone tries to use the past to bolster their positions today because they usually use revisionist history to do it.

2. No it wasn't just Dems. The BIG diff. between then & now is the

draft. It wasn't only Dems who were being drafted, and so very many people were personallly affected.You were either young enough to be drafted, or had children or grandchildren already in "Nam.

Now, there are a LOT of people whoare disconnected from the current wars. The closest they get is the5 min. or less spot on the nightly news about what happened today in Iraq, andSOMETIMES the news evenremembers to mention Afghanastan. as soon as the news switches to a new subject, the wars are forgotten.
