John Edwards' Virtual Headquarters Vandalized in Second Life

According to a post on presidential candidate John Edwards' official blog, the Democrat's Second Life campaign headquarters was trashed, apparently by Republican gamers:

Shortly before midnight (CST) on Monday, February 26, a group of republican Second Life users, some sporting "Bush '08″ tags, vandalized the John Edwards Second Life HQ. They plastered the area with Marxist/Lenninist posters and slogans, a feces spewing obscenity, and a photoshopped picture of John in blackface, all the while harassing visitors with right-wing nonsense and obscenity-laden abuse of Democrats in general and John in particular.

3. Well, to virtual vandalism.
To be honest, I find this chuckle-worthy. Even though I'm registered as a Second Lifer I've only 'played' once; while I know a lot of people take it seriously, I simply can't, and even find the idea of a campaign office set up there funny.

5. I doubt the vandals are even political
There is a significant coterie of griefers in SL who simply trash anything that has the potential to draw significant attention.

These are the guys that wear 8 foot penis attachments into nightclubs or
implement pranks like http://video.google.com/videoplay%3Fdocid%3D5387867190768022577%26q%3Danshe%2Bchung%2Bpenis%26hl%3Den&usg=AL29H22Dj2h6R_c1va-N_8pqZuRxf38YTQ">this.

4. And they talk about the Repugs fearing the other candidates..!
It's the briar-patch ploy.

Edwards and his economic policies constitute the most powerful laxative known in the Republican pharmacopoeia.

6. Homebound Geeks Saddened By Other Geeks' Virtual Attack On John Edwards' Make-Believe HQ
From Wonkette:

Homebound Geeks Saddened By Other Geeks' Virtual Attack On John Edwards' Make-Believe Computer-Game Cyber Headquarters

It’s so great that presidential candidates have “blogs” where “idiots” write a regular stream of gibberish that’s at least tangentially related to an election to be held in November 2008 — otherwise, how would we know John Edwards’ “Second Life” headquarters was vandalized in the alternate dimension of computer-game world?

According to Edwards’ bloggers (who all hate Catholics or something?):

Shortly before midnight (CST) on Monday, February 26, a group of republican Second Life users, some sporting “Bush ‘08” tags, vandalized the John Edwards Second Life HQ. They plastered the area with Marxist/Lenninist posters and slogans, a feces spewing obsenity, and a photoshopped picture of John in blackface, all the while harrassing visitors with right-wing nonsense and obsenity-laden abuse of Democrats in general and John in particular.

Wow, that’s not only the stupidest thing we’ve ever read, it’s also got four misspellings in a single paragraph. Call us, Edwards Blogger Person! We may have a jerb for you!
