Harold Ford, Clinton and Obama greeted enthusiastically at SC JJ dinner...

Former congressman Harold Ford Jr. of Tennessee, who lost a close race for the U.S. Senate last year but is still considered a star in the party, was the keynote speaker for the dinner. He picked up the theme of the evening: one of the Democratic candidates will be the next president of the United States.

Ford offered praise for many of the candidates and poked Republicans.

Noting the enthusiasm with which some Republicans have greeted Clinton’s candidacy because they think she would be an easy target, Ford praised the former first lady’s experience and toughness.

“If they want Hillary Clinton, they must not be very smart,” Ford said.

Ford’s remarks were enthusiastically received, but the candidates were the stars of the show.

...

Obama, the U.S. senator from Illinois whose candidacy could give the country its first black president, entered the ballroom with a swarm of supporters. Flashing lights followed the path to his table.

Clinton’s entrance was just as grand. Indeed, her throng was even larger than the one that surrounded Obama.

3. Get a life.
Spend less time trashing Democrats like Harold Ford and more time going after the Republicans or coming up with some positive new ideas.

4. Which is worse, criticizing a Democrat for supporting a third party in an election...
Or supporting that same Democrat now?

5. IndianaGreen has a valid point.
When Lieberman, a Democrat, left the party to run against the Democrat that the people in that district elected to be their nominee, he was bypassing the democratic election process to name himself Senator by calling on those in the opposing party, and calling in favor chips of his own party, to defeat the Democrats.

Lamont lost at least in part because some leaders in his own party failed to support him.

Now Lieberman is...surprise surprise...considering joining the Republican Party.

To criticize Ford for jumping on the bandwagon of the opposition because he thought that's who would win .... is justified, IMO. Glad Ford lost his election.

12. I predict that Joe Lieberman will endorse the GOP nominee
Holy Joe has been making lots of noise about switching parties if the Democrats persist in troop withdrawal. Joe's going to the GOP is a foregone conclusion since all the Democratic candidates support some form or another of troop withdrawals.

As to Harold Ford, I don't care what that POS does or says.

9. Good Lord, now we're touting Size of Throng
Edited on Sat Apr-28-07 04:28 PM by BeyondGeography
Who's in charge of Throng Management for Barack? I'm gonna tear that guy a new one!

On edit, it appears the Throngstress was once again trailing in the euphoria department:

<Of the six Democratic presidential contenders who appeared at Clyburn’s fish fry, Obama got the most wildly euphoric reception from a mostly younger (under age 30) crowd that was about equally parts white and black.

As he entered the fish fry, his young fans raised their clenched fists and chanted “O-ba-ma, O-ba-ma.”

Sen. Hillary Clinton got a frenzied welcome at the event with drums beating and her mostly female supporters chanting “Hil-a-ree, Hil-a-ree!” but it did not quite equal the wild enthusiasm of the crowd for Obama.>

13. I hear Obama fans touting the size of his throngs all the time
because he's had lots of people show up at his rallies.

For me, it doesn't matter who has the larger crowds at this point. Large throng doesn't necessarily equal winner.

10. Two views of his stance on Iraq.
Which is important since he is the head of the policy making unit of the party. We need to follow his views.

From Newshounds:

http://www.newshounds.us/2007/04/02/fox_lies_and_says_harold_ford_jr_was_breaking_with_his_party_on_iraq.php

"This was Harold Ford, Jr.'s chance to come on and talk about their earlier promos that said he was breaking with his party. He said they were completely untrue. He was not breaking with his party and he thought the timetables his party set forth was a good thing and would work well together with General Petreus' plan."

Or this view:
http://www.zwire.com/site/news.cfm?newsid=18272438&BRD=1838&PAG=461&dept_id=104621&rfi=6

"Ford told students that pulling out of Iraq was not the solution to the war. Instead, he suggested the U.S. role should be to encourage the creation of three states - one for Sunnis, one for Shias and one for Kurds - and allow them to "live amongst themselves and to build communities when they see fit."

For Americans to think they can impose their way of life on the Iraqis is ignorant, Ford said."

So do we leave or do we stay? Are we the American people getting our chains yanked by our own party on this issue?

We are running for cover, ducking around corners, and getting blown up by bombs there now.

Someone tell me how we have the power there to really divide a country into 3 parts?

UNLESS...we bomb them till dead. Is that going on?

How many more horrors do we do there?

15. I hope Harold "I supported Joe Lieberman" Ford chokes on his chicken
The man is a pig that supported Joe Lieberman over the Democratic nominee Ned Lamont. No self-respecting Democrat should share the stage with that POS. Ford is worse than Sharpton!
