Are Democrats More Open to Critical Discussion of Their Party?
Arendt's recent posting 'The Party Formerly Known as "Democratic"' has attracted 2714 views, 60 recommendations and 73 replies. The vast majority expressed various levels of agreement with Arendt's expression of extreme dissatisfaction with the Democratic party (or its leaders?), with three posters clearly expressing reservations with Arendt's opinions.

Many found the 'rant' well written are at least of interest. One found it 'vicious' and 'condescending.' While posters disagreed with each other a measure of civility was maintained to allow the debate to continue (at least thus far). A moderator twice (?) intervened to remove posts that violated the forums civility standards (I assume).

DU clearly provides a forum for disagreement with their party leaders and disagreement with each other's opinions.

I wonder if it could be said that conservative discussion forums express less dissent with their party leaders and less internal disagreement in online discussions. Probably too much of a generalization.

Your thoughts?

1. "More open?" More likely to participate! More likely to opt out, just as the RNC wants them to.

2. Welcome to DU DoctorStrangelove
I haven't been to that thread yet, but I will say this from your post. I am torn between goose stepping with the leaders of our party and disagreeing with them. But then again I always err on the side of caution. I goose step with them when I think they are right, and I disagree with them when I think they are wrong.

3. Republicans are notoriously reluctant to discuss all the gay sex scandals
that their elected R officials are embroiled in. That's for sure.
