Why Are The Republicans/Conservatives Attacking The Dem Left?
Edited on Tue Jun-19-07 08:11 AM by EV_Ares
Have you noticed how the attacks have picked up on the left (or us or most of us)? Yesterday, was reading an article on how the dem candidates that promote any left wing ideology are hurting themselves in the general election. Believe it was by a newsweek columnist. There have recently been others.

This morning Scarborough was showing his true conservative colors. Supporting his comment against John Edwards for his remark "The war on terror is only a bumper sticker". Blasting those of us who sent him emails about his attack on Edwards. He was saying Edwards would take the party down and when Hillary Clinton who has not used any left wing ideology was our candidate we would be glad she didn't. Today, he was going on about how the left was basically against Bush. In other words defending Bush and "his so-called war on terror"; defending Bush basically on Iraq stating that "afterall" 9/11 happened before Iraq.

Anyhow/whatever, it seems the MSM is on the attack now and it is against the left wing. Remember, how they convinced Kerry and Gore on how to run their campaigns. Telling Gore he had to break away from Clinton, even though he and Clinton gave us 8 years of bliss, great economy, great time to be an American. Gore fell for it and lost. John Kerry, did not fight back against the Swift Boaters, the media said he did not want to personally or be harsh against Bush, we all know the result of that campaign.

I hope the Democratic candidates are going to make up their own minds and not let Tweeter bird, Scarborough and others like Blitzer and Russert give them directions on how to run their campaigns.

Of course I am biased to the left and I don't give a dam. I think you have to be honest with yourself and the American people and you have to believe in yourself such as Kucinich and Edwards who want what is right and what is best for all of us. Health care, Education for anyone who can achieve it, peace in the world, getting America's respect back in the world and the neo-con criminals out of office and back to where the Rule of Law applies and it is to be applied fairly to all countries and all peoples.

What the hell is wrong with any of those beliefs that I know the left carries?

Sorry for the rant but just my thoughts. Also, I have not seen any attacks from anyone on the Extreme Right-wing of the republican party which has had a huge part in putting this country and all of us in this mess.

1. Because we're winning.
I hate to reply with such a short answer, but I believe it's true.

2. It worked for them before
The country was pulled hard right by their smear tactics and assaults before. Now that their policies and incompetence finally brought that to a screeching halt, and people have turned around and are again looking at the ideas of the left, it's restarted.

They can't win based on their ideas (which most people can't stand) or their record (which most people find appalling) so the only way they can hope to retain control is through propoganda, slander, lies, and hate.

4. HOW CAN ANYONE WHO VOTED REPUBLICAN CALL THEMSELVES CONSERVATIVES

I fail to see how anyone who voted for "REAGEN" "BUSH SENIOR" OR "BUSH JUNIOR"
consider themselves or even be considered conservative. these three presidents
have all increased the size of government, spent like drunken sailors, led the country
down the golden path of scandal and corruption while running unbearable deficits.
by its "webster" definition none of these traits fit the word "CONSERVATIVE"

15. Bingo ...
"They can't win based on their ideas (which most people can't stand) or their record (which most people find appalling) so the only way they can hope to retain control is through propoganda, slander, lies, and hate."

VERY well said ...

They will keep going to the well until it totally dries up ...

They got a small beat down last November, but smearing the left is what broke the damn to get them into power in the house in 92 and helped them to chip away more and more until this last election cycle ... No reason to go away from what works after one loss ...

7. Why are the Dem/Left attacking the Republican/Conservatives?
These things work both ways.
It's the nature of the game.

8. So where in the MSM and TV Pundents like Blitzer do you see them
saying anything about the far right wing? As the other poster said, it worked for them on the Dems before so doing it again.

10. Countdown with Olbermann
although to be truthful, I don't watch TV and I get my news mostly from the internet.
The nature of the MSM and TV is propaganda so I tend to avoid those venues except when I am wanting to know the enemy.
I particularly avoid TV, haven't owned one for a decade.

14. For that matter, why are the Dem/Left attacking the Dem/Left?

I agree, though. Everyone has their own horse in the race and it's the nature of the game.

11. the attack from the GOP and MSM Heathers is just warming up
I wonder if people so intent on eviscerating the party from within even notice the storm brewing on the horizon.
