How did Richardson do in tonight's debate??
I was so looking forward to it ~ and managed to fall asleep about four minutes into it. Woke up just as Gravel made his final remark.

1. Not good...
If anything he did worse than he did in the previous two...

3. Oh, bummer...
Thanks for the update ~ guess I'll just go back to sleep.

(I see you started a thread on the same subject; I must've been typing when that went up ~ sorry.)

4. Not very well. His answer on AIDS in the African American community
Edited on Thu Jun-28-07 10:50 PM by Heaven and Earth
was particularly atrocious. he kept talking about "needles" as though that word alone symbolized a complete answer. His "pro-growth democrat" line puts him with Gravel in the "bash the Democratic party onstage."

At this point, I'd rather have Hillary than Richardson if his debate performances are indications of how he'd govern.

5. I wasn't impressed.
He's a lot better on one-on-one interviews....he seems distracted and unprepared in these forums. If the questions were more focused and technical, I think he'd be far more effective.

6. rough, rough night for Bill
as mentioned the aids answer was almost surreal, like he had never thought about it, so he just started rambling, circling back saying things like 'needles penetrating' and 'bring the condoms, that's how we solve this'

i'm not sure how much it will hurt him, though.

7. I thought he did okay, but it seems I am in the minority on this
His debate performances mean little to him anyway. He is running on his resume, not his rhetorical skills, style, or being telegenic. He will continue his climb in NH and Iowa.

9. he answered questions in the vaguest of terms
like "we need to stop poverty" period

I am sorry if anyone likes Richardson, but he just really gets to me. His plans look like cut and paste jobs from others and he doesn't ever seem to really know where he stands. Neither do the supporters I encounter.

I did expect Richardson to do well on the Darfur question, but they didn't really give him enough time.

10. horrible
I'm watching my VHS recording of it as we speak. Just finished the
AIDS question, good lord he was awful. "Needles" as a term unto itself
like people have said previously. Its funny, on paper he is loaded for
qualifications, and I think he is admirable in general (although my
politics are a more Kucinich, I respect Richardson). He is just a god
awful debater. I feel bad for him, he just doesn't excel in this format it
seems that it may knock him out before the primaries even start.
Scott
PS Biden just made me very uncomfortable with his answer to AIDS bringing
up Obama what was that? I know I'm behind but at least I taped it ;)
