After last night's debate, it's easy to see why the Goddess of Peace will be our next President
...just in case the reality of the situation hasn't already jolted you.

Think about it. She's so far ahead that all her adversaries are becoming desperate and being obvious about it. Edwards and Obama have tried everything possible under the sun to pick up ground on her and they still can't do it. Hahaha, when they talked about Hillary's "coat", what they were really telling the viewers is this: "Hey viewers, don't you realize that Hillary is a woman? Wake up!!" That's the kind of thing you resort to when you're so far behind that you have to pull the gender card in a last ditch effort to unseat Numero Uno. Well I've got some news for Obama and Edwards. Hillary might wear a lady's coat, but she is tougher than nails and they're not nearly tough enough. The voters know it and that's why she's got this thing all but sewn up. Unless Obama can pull a miracle and find the same magic that he pulled from the hat during his 2004 speech at the DNC, he'll be nothing more than a distant memory...a one-hit wonder. Ride Captain Ride!

The Republicans vs Hillary? LMAO, the entire lot of those inbred assholes could gang up on her and she'd still paste their sorry collective asses to the wall. Even the Pentagon isn't a match for the Goddess of Peace. The country knows it.

The lady kicks ass, everyone sees it, and she's keeping all her naysayers awake late at night. The Democrats need a fighter, the nation won't settle for anything less than a fighter, and love her or hate her, the lady is a fighter. Barring a miracle comeback from Obama, who I still really like, Hillary will soon be changing her name from Senator to President and that sounds fine with me. Yeah

Edited on Tue Jul-24-07 10:47 AM by welshTerrier2
is that the Goddess of Peace who keeps voting for massive defense appropriations?

is that the Goddess of Peace who voted against an amendment to ban the use of cluster bombs in civilian areas?

Goddess of Peace ... what a joke ...

19. If your talking about authorization, yes, that would be the one and same HRC, the GOP...
aka the Goddess of Peace...the first candidate to vow to end the war upon taking the oath when elected president if Bush's war was still going on...the same person who had the guts to call Bush's administration the worst administration in the history of this nation...while the rest of the wimps watched and sat on their hands...except for Kucinich, that is.

how about some of those great big defense authorizations? is that what Goddesses of Peace support?

and she's vowing to end the "war" when "taking the oath" of office? you mean, she's committed to another year and a half of war? some Goddess of Peace you have there ... how about doing something NOW?????

and, btw, does the Goddess of Peace condone the US theft of Iraqi Oil? She's been pushing pretty damned hard for that Iraqi Oil Law?

has she clearly said she opposes the imperialistic, criminal grab for oil? I must have missed that speech by the Goddess of Peace? can you be pro-imperialism but still pro-peace? I'd like to see how she tap dances through that mine field ...

4. "goddess of peace"? wow. just wow.
where do I start?

I guess I'll just stay with the most egregious: couching description of your candidate in religious idolation does not make me very comfortable.
I'm referring to YOUR reference, apart from her at all.

Second, using "peace" with Clinton is highly misleading. Maybe with Kucinich.

I really don't understand why you think frothing at the mouth like this gets new converts?

Completely apart from qualifications, a fanatical following is a red flag to me for any candidate. I do not use fervor of the acolytes as a reason to vote for someone, if anything, it makes me extremely suspicious.

She has the backing of HUGE corporations, and big money, which has put her in the spotlight and makes it *seem* like she's overwhelmingly popular.

support with a link or some info that informs your statement, as well as the "big money" comment.
The data that I have seem to indicate that more than 99% of her financial support is coming from individual donors.

For the rest of us, we don't appreciate our government run by corporation.

Oh, and you might check out Michael Moore's bit in SICKO about her, and her backing from medical corporations and PHARMco.

Other than that, whatever floats your boat.

53. If you are right, I would like to know. if this is a myth, we should straighten it out.
This chart shows Clinton getting less than 1% of her money from business PACs.
http://www.opensecrets.org/pres08/summary.asp?id=N00000019&cycle=2008

This chart shows "health professionals" as a top contributor group, but that can't be "medical corporations" or "PHARMco" can it? And if so, are we going to take the position that supporting "medical professionals" is not a good position for Dems?

http://www.opensecrets.org/pres08/indus.asp?id=N00000019&cycle=2008

Perhaps there is other info that I am missing and is the basis for your belief.

As I said, look at Michael Moore's comment, for just one example.

Many of us don't want our country run by corporations any more than it already is. She now is beholden to them.

I suspect, typical of DU, that you're going to really blast me on this.

There's a difference between supporting a candidate and worshiping them as a deity.

The former can involve sanity while the latter has nothing to do with it.

Hillary is so diviosive the GOP uses her to raise money. We need a candidate who can get those GOP votes and Hillary is questionable. The problem is not they they "fear" Hillary but that they don't "like" her. and that is bad for the General.

Zilch.

At this point in 2004, Lieberman was out front if I recall correctly.

Mrs. Clinton has great name recognition, and we live in a country where more than 30% of residents can't name the Vice President or their own state's governor. In a poll where "none of the above" is not an option, of course she'll come out on top - for now.

They've taken their best shots at her for what seems like an eternity, and whenever they've thrown a stone at her she hits them right back, only with a brick. The lady has weathered anything they can muster up against her and has come out of looking all the more stronger each time. No wonder they're all scared to death of her. In the backs of their minds, her adversaries are all intimidated by her and rightfully so. Right now there is simply no one who can match her.

Edited on Tue Jul-24-07 04:31 PM by politicasista
You may think that helps her, but tearing down the FEW that is still on our side while proping up Hillary does NOT help her.

How come no one wants to ask why didn't the Democratic Party back Kerry up when the Smear Boat fools made their rounds? How come they sat on their behinds and did not lift a finger when the smear ads came out?

Interesting that the party gets a pass while the one that contuiously fights, yes fights (ending the war, Alito, environment, and so on) gets slammed, bashed, and dumped on just to promote others.

People need to walk a day in the man's shoes and then understand what fighting really means.

That's not very helpful period. I don't care what anyone says.

Please understand, that the perception of Kerry not being a fighter is out there! I would go so far as to say, that this was one of the main reason's people would not support him in 2008.

IMO, this position is a valid one, and not an attack on Kerry.

putting down Kerry. And BTW: He did respond, but the media buried the response and gave the liars more air time. Plus, the party not only didn't back him up, they sat on their hands and did nothing. And the left-leaning pundits got their behinds handed to them by the right-leaning pundits.

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_oet&address=358x2555

Bush didn't do all the work by himself, he had the GOP and the GOP-controlled broadcast media doing it for him by going on all the pundit shows and repeating the same talking points over and over again. But in this case, Kerry was supposed to do all that, including securing the votes, strengthening the party, including the SOS in the battleground states all by himself, but no, let's just dump all on the nominee while we let the REAL persons that were supposed to help out off the hook.

Hillary has party support. Kerry didn't.

IF someone wants to vote for Hillary based on what they think she can do for the country then why should the fact her husband was president make a difference?

So, using your reasoning we shouldn't vote for her even if we feel she's the best candidate?

I didn't vote against W because his dad was president but because I saw he was a fucking idiot asshole. His father had nothing to do with my vote.

36. If she wins, this country is fucked.
As President, Hillary will:

1. Continue the war in Iraq.

2. Invade or bomb Iran (her good buddy Lieberman will love that!)

3. Fund gas chambers and crematoria to put the Palestinians in.

4. Continue to advocate for corporations at the expense of the people.

5. Subsidize the Insurance Industry and Big Pharma by requiring mandatory private health insurance.

So forgive me if I don't share your enthusiasm for the "Goddess of Peace" ( that phrase just made me throw up in my mouth).

It can't get much worse. Quite frankly, I'd rather be fucked by Hillary because I'm tired of being fucked by Bush.....

76. No. If she wins, the country is saved....FINALLY...and possibly the world too
Edited on Wed Jul-25-07 08:36 AM by mtnsnake
Same if Obama wins, but I don't think he's going to pull it out.

So forgive me if I don't share your enthusiasm for the "Goddess of Peace" ( that phrase just made me throw up in my mouth).

lol now THAT is funny! :toast:

Anyway, the Goddess of Peace will put a stop to the madness created by Bush and the Republican war machine, and the repukes all now it. They're petrified that she'll get the Democratic nod because they fully realize that there isn't a single one of their sorry asses that can come close to matching her in any kind of a political race. They also realize that she'll become one of the most liberal presidents in history once she takes the oath.

First woman president will be Hillary Clinton, the Goddess of Peace......ahhhhhhhhhh

37. Goddess of Peace??????
You do understand that Hillary has reassured her Corporate/MIC backers that she WILL continue the Occupation of Iraq indefinitely?

Redeploying some troops at some time in the future when conditions permit is a PRO-WAR position.

38. you're assuming BushCo is going to leave in 2009 . . . I wouldn't make that assumption . . .
why do you think Bush is issuing all of these Executive Orders that effectively make him dictator-in-chief and outlaw all protest? . . . for the benefit of some future president, be it Hillary Clinton or someone else? . . . I don't think so . . .

it's becoming painfully obvious that BushCo intends to orchestrate some kind of crisis that will enable them to cancel the elections and remain in power indefinitely . . . it's also becoming painfully obvious that Congress is not going to do anything to stop them . . . the only thing I can't ffigure out is "Why?" . . .

85. I regret that the DLC mistakenly believe that Democrats are as easy to dupe as Republicans.
They keep trying ... you got to give them points on persistence. But they keep trying THE WRONG TACTICS. We're Democrats - you hook us with liberal issues: education, health care and civil rights type issues.
