For that, the Republicans and Bush and company attacked France as being too liberal ...

yet I had seen that, in 2002, France elected a "conservative" (mind you, he ran as a center-right ... only because his opponent was a far rightie ... which, in old school terms, is against war ...)

And Wikipedia backs up the idea that his history is conservative/rightie ...

So, the US gets mad at France for, in truth, being conservative???

I think the central belief- American hegemony- is more Republican than Democratic, but it's harder for me to fit it into the "liberal-conservative" spectrum.
