GOP Ticket ='s Ghouls/Gospel
Prediction as of today 8/14/07. (If it becomes clear that Hillary will be our nominee)....
The REpubs will go with this ticket: Rudy Giuliani/Mike Huckabee.
Here's why:
Fred Thompson is getting no traction (Scarborough and Buchanan basically said this morning that he's done before he gets started - just not enough enthusiasm out there for him or from him - not enough fire in his belly - and big Cialis/Viagra commitment needed to keep up with young hot wife).
Romney just can't overcome the Evangelical wing fear of "mormon cultism".
There will be a push to rehab McCain, but it's too late for him (he sided with brown people on immigration and that was an "unforgivable sin").

So, what's left?. The two wings of their party need to be satisfied to bring in the money and get out the foot soldiers.
Ghouliani will satisfy the bloodthirst for corporate war and corporate greed.
Huckabee (a Baptist preacher) will satisfy the religious warrior wing.

Ghouls can say that he picked Mike because of his wonderful health care package. You know the one - stop eating and pray for good health. Ghouls can say that if there are two people who know what a Hillary admin would do to destroy this country, it is the two of them (1 from New York and 1 from Arkansas). Ghouls can go after Hillary with a wicked tongue and Ole Huck can do so with an "aw shucks, bless her heart, good natured joking" manner.
And, what about Ghouls being a serial marrying/adultering, pro abortion and pro gay (didn't he like to play dressup?)....well, yeah, but that's really all PRE-911 thinking. And, besides, Ole Huck will minister to Ghouls on their tour bus and keep him focused on the important stuff (killing Muslims)...so, what's not to love?, this ticket has 2 warriors for Jesus!

This ticket would also fend off a third party challenge from the relig right and Bloomberg wouldn't want to challenge two other New Yorkers (Rudy & Hillary).
The ticket is balanced with north and south as well as corporate/fundie-ism.
Just imagine a bumper sticker/an armored skull & crossbones for Ghouls and a halo-ed cross for Huck.

OK - Tell me why I'm right or wrong.

1. Wouldn't be so sure about Huckabee as Veep. He's got some downsides.
His family is a bit, uh, unsavory (check out his psychopath son). He set a convicted rapist free, under pressure from Freeper-types, and this guy ended up murdering someone else soon thereafter. He and his wife were charged with pulling some sort of okie-doke with a gift registry when they left office. He wrote a book about the Jonesboro school shootings and some families were upset that he exploited/profited off of the tragedy. There's a reason this guy's not in the top tier. I'd say Rick Perry (Mr. Bilderberg), Tim Pawlenty (if the bridge tragedy thing subsides without his taking too much of the blame), Mark Sanford--all more likely VP picks.
