Knowing as we all do that Alberto Gonzales doesn't break wind with going through channels, you'd have to be an idiot to think that he just showed up on Friday and said, "Boss, I Quit" to the hand that has fed him for so many years. You couldn't possibly think that something of this magnitude was left to chance -- which is my way of saying that the resignation of Alberto Gonzales is a distraction covering something that must be pretty big.

What could it be?

There's that "Rolling Stone" article or maybe it's the really, really suspicious death of soldiers slated to testify about war crimes.

There's no reason to suspect this is anything other than what it appears to be - a beleaguered Attorney-General resigning.
