Katrina Year Two: Never Forget
It's been two long years since a massive Category 5 Hurricane slammed into the Gulf Coast after sliding over Florida causing devastation in Alabama, Mississisppi and Lousiana that had not been seen in over 40 years.

We are now two years past that event, but we can never afford to get past it's ramifications and lingering impact.

Sometimes words are simply not enough.

4. Katrina Year Two: Never Forget
This thread is absurd. To think that the federal government, no matter dem or rep has any responsibility (i.e. TAX PAYERS DOLLARS) is ludicrous.

How about Nagin & Blanco, after all, they are the elected "leaders" of NO, taking responsibility? IIRCC the feds sent NO 3,000,000,000 (THATS BILLION DOLLARS). That ain't no chump change. Where did all of that money go? Perhaps to the corrupt political chumps in NO that milk all of us out of our hard earned money

6. Nagin & Blanco's resources
Edited on Wed Aug-29-07 10:38 PM by Vyan
were destroyed by the STORM. That's why there's a picture of a drowned police car and all the school buses in my collage. Nagin, in consultation with Blanco and the President called for the city to be evacuated before the storm hit and used the city buses to get those who couldn't (or wouldn't) leave to high ground, that's what the picture of all the traffic leaving the city shows and it's why people were gathered at the Superdome in the first place. The city of New Orleans only had two working boats after the storm hit, exactly what more could Nagin have done without any resources? AFAIK they did what they could, but they needed help - and help was off playing guitar and having cake with John McCain for the next four days while Brownie was left in charge and Chertoff ignored the entire situation.

Eventually those that survived and stayed did get temporary shelter via the FEMA trailers, only to wind up trapped there due to selfish insurance companies and poisoned by the leaking formaldahyde.

But it's not like any of that is the responsibility of the Federal Government, or anything...

10. and don't forget Barbara Bush's sentiments when she visited the Dome . . .
something about these people being underprivileged anyhow, so they were really getting a pretty good deal there . . . disgusting . . . no wonder George is so devoid of empathy . . .

almost as bad as when she was asked about war casualties and said she couldn't bother her "beautiful mind" with such nonsense . . .
