Don't Stand Up to Petreaus, Stand Up to Bush!
Edited on Mon Sep-10-07 05:52 PM by sampsonblk
Gen Petreaus is doing his job - very well, in fact. He is one of the few bright spots in this disaster.

The fact is, we got beat here at home, politically. GW Bush kicked our party's ass. Then he disrespected us. Then he kicked our ass again just to make sure we got the message. General Petreaus is not a part of that fight and does not deserve the wrath of Democrats.

You wanna be tough? Stand up to Bush, not Petreaus. Until today, we had all the cards and used virtually none of them. Now, Bush's and Gonzales' victory over us is complete. Its not because we were wrong, its because we lacked the will and common sense to fight like hell when the time arrived.

So now we want to go after Gen Petreaus? This ain't Gen Pace or Franks we're talking about. Gen Petreaus is an actual expert in his field, not a political general, and he's doing a fair job under impossible conditions. Our fight was with Bush.

Of course it didn't help to have so many on our side counseling weakness for the past few years.
