I have an idea to resolve the Primary Schedule issue
Keep the current schedule for non-presidential election years ....

THEN > Every 4 years during presidential elections: Place all the state's names into a hat, and draw names well in advance of the primary season, so all parties can plan ahead ....

I swear .... Politics isn't very different from running herd over a kindergarten class ... turn your head and they're stealing each other's lunch sandwiches ...

Just a thought ....

1. National Primary Day
..and on a Saturday or Sunday since people work.

The media will then have no time to skewer candidates like Howard Dean.

But I'll take a more compressed schedule for time being.

2. Not until elections are publicly financed.
If we did a national primary without a major overhaul, we'd be assured that only the richest, most corporate candidates could compete in a national market.

But that takes time and the will to do it, and I'm not sure that politician or voters have the inclination to devote either.

3. Possibly, but longer the media has to spin, the worse.
Peace.

4. I like that idea.
Good thinking.

But don't change anything THIS cycle like California Repubs are trying to.

5. I like that idea!
I also like the idea of each state voting on a different day.

Or some kind of limit on how many States each week.

I also like the idea of voting on weekends.

Or letting people vote over a 2-day period.

The current system sucks (unless you are in Iowa or NH).
