heavens I'm not totally dependent on it as some folks are. I'm supposed to receive it between the 5th and 9th of the month. Lately it arrives anywhere from the 11th to the 15th. Just wondering if the SS funds are amongst "creative accounting" and the money doesn't get put back in time...Shall I get a tinfoil hat??

1. can't you specify direct deposit?

You might be seeing postal service inefficiency. I think you may be able to specify direct deposit into your bank account. Then there would be no delay.

The Post Office always delivers either 2 days at a time or 4 days (the whole week) at once.

In 1988 or 1989, while I was in the military, our pay day was changed from the 15th and last day of the month to the 15th and first day of the month for several months.

After about 6 months, our pay day was changed back to the 15th and last day of the month. I'm sure that the very first month of making the switch - the month in which there is only one pay day - shows a huge savings.

Of course, that savings got balanced out somehow when they switched the pay days back and that very first month after the switch had 3 pay days.

9. Guess it's' your bank. Mine is there always before the 3rd.

It is very rare that it waits til the 3rd. If there is a Holiday and the 3rd is on a Monday mine is there on the previous Friday. Most times even when the 3rd is on a Monday and no Holiday it is there. Check with your bank and see why they are late posting it.
