Besides Being Against the Occupation of Iraq, Why Are People So Enamored with...
RON PAUL?????:spank:

I am asking this because I know some Democrats who are considering voting for this crazy Libertarian hiding in Republican sheeps wool....

This morning, on my drive through town, I saw more than 3 Ron Paul bumper stickers and several yard signs!!!!

WTF?:wtf:

1. Perhap the rationale goes like this:
It's a given the GOP will cheat in the election. Therefore the smart play is to get somebody who is not totally batshit crazy to start WWIII as a nominee.

3. Flaw with that reasoning:
Ron Paul is, in fact, totally batshit crazy.

4. You are very
CORRECT. Stacy Taylor interviewed him when he sat in for Randi Rhodes... Paul was not ready for the real questions - Like his stance on abortion. Like his desire to privatize everything.....

2. Simple: Change.
People who follow politics just closely enough to know all the candidates know this much about Paul: He doesn't sound like any of the other candidates. Which is true. Other than being against the war, he also has, shall we say, unique views on a host of other subjects. The interest in Ron Paul just goes to prove the old adage that people will support you as long as you stand for something. It's when you vacillate and waffle that people lose interest.

5. Paul takes principled stands and sticks to them. Some people like that.
IMHO, if the whole GOP were as batshit crazy as Ron Paul, we'd be living in a much better world. At the least, he thinks for himself and doesn't flinch at being alone in a fight.

The reason that the GOP and the MSM hate Paul is because he is not screwed-up ENOUGH.

6. have you heard him
talking outside of a debate?

He is a nut. He would do everything possible to make us all little Libertarians.

Ugh.

Which is, as you know, just a Republican who smokes pot.

8. Trouble is the only thing that I agree with him is on leaving Iraq, while I was in OK
last week I noticed guite a few signs that seemed to be calling for a revolution, well that is what the signs say, small though they are, they are easy to be seen, what kind of revolution is he calling for and why?

7. If the Beltway doesn't like him or acknowledge him, he can't be
all bad.

I'd like to see a Kucinich v. Paul presidential run because I think real Americans' concerns would be discussed.

11. "None of the above"
Edited on Wed Oct-17-07 11:36 AM by JohnnyRingo
I think for various reasons, through mostly racial or gender bias on the Dem side, and disdain for a weird and percievable liberal NY Governor on the Repub side, voters are once again seeking an alternative who seems the maverick and represents change. (and Ron Paul sure is different)

Many potential voters are looking for the "Perot" candidate again.
I don't think Paul will have that much steam in the end, but a spoiler candidate will likely be in the running for '08.

Just a theory though
