How the republicans lost their groove
On Sept. 12, 2001, the republicans had an opportunity to become the ruling party of America for decades. They had the support of the world to fight the terrorists who orchestrated 9/11. Had they used that support to build a coalition, we would not be single-handedly be funding and fighting a folly in a third world country that is in the midst of a civil war. Instead, they followed a handful of neo-con idiots who had a pre-conceived plan to seize power of the sole super-power and reap billions in profits to fill their coffers. They blindly followed them over a cliff. Now, as they are falling off that cliff, peering up at the sky in their descent, they are asking themselves what happened.

The answer, as they now know, is that they were lied to. Oh, it's not like they didn't know they were being lied to, they did, they just had too much hubris to admit it. So, they just let the snowball continue on it's path downhill, growing bigger and bigger with lies to cover up lies. They prayed WMDs would be found in Iraq. When it becane apparent there weren't any, the focus was quickly shifted to liberating the Iraqis from the evil Hussein. Once Hussein was found and hanged, the focus shifted to fighting Al Qaeda. Each time the excuse for the invasion was changed, they promptly raised their windows and shouted their mantra to the world. One problem, the rest of the world wasn't blinded by hubris. One by one, the countries that were being paid to participate in the Iraq folly quickly figured out this was a losing proposition and pulled their troops and support.

Now, with the vast majority of Americans against the Iraq folly ( it has never been a war), republicans are running away from Bush in droves, looking hopelessly for a savior that isn't there. They desperately need a leader for their dwindling numbers, but everyone in a position to be that leader fully supported Bush and the neo-cons, who seem to have faded into the woodwork.

Now, after the voter revolt of 2006, the republicans are relegated to just being obstructionists so the slim majority of democrats in congress can't get anything done, thus making them look weak. It is backfiring on them big time. Lobby monies for republicans have disappeared, and many of them have chosen not to run in 2008 to spend more time with their families. If they can't be the majority, they don't want to play. How patriotic?

Look at how the republican leaders who championed this folly in Iraq have folded. Tom Delay, Hastert, Wolfowitz, Perle, Rumsfeld, and the list goes on forever. They jumped ship, taking the lifeboats before the women and children had a chance to board, Cowards!

Okay, by now you know their groove was based on deception and not substance. Instead of a groove, they were in a crack, the crack in George W. Bush's ass, where their noses were firmly planted. With Bush's numbers at historic lows, and republicans losing favor faster than Atlanta is losing water, it's becoming increasingly roomy in that crack. Those that can't stand the smell are leaving, albeit soiled from spending the last seven years residing there.

1. New Govenor of LA
was just elected and is a rePUKElican. What is the matter with this country?

LA has a large training base for training the US military before going to Iraq. A Dem should have won so we could get the the training camps closed.

And considering that 5 of the 7 current US Representatives are Republican.

Louisiana will likely lose one of those seats in the 2010 redistricting.

4. The GOP has produced nothing but fear and tax cuts, that's why
they lost, and will continue to lose.

The enactment of the "Patriot Act" was born of fear, the war was born of fear based on lies. When they had the chance to enact some form of meaningful legislation, they discussed flag burning and denying gay rights. One can toss in the usual election rhetoric about being tough on abortion, but when they had power, they did nothing, (as is the norm, after all, why actually do something with that "gift", and not be able to use it each cycle?).

Here is an underlying passion that mot Americans don't voice, they know the war is wrong, based on lies and obfuscations, but Osama bin-Laden is still unaccounted for; and he is the reason given for starting this crap in the first place. The GOP loses because it can't deliver. We must avoid that same pitfall, and we need to get things done quickly.

clearly that another reason for going into Iraq was to have blank slate that they could privatize, de-unionize, de-nationalize and create that great Utopian country that would finally prove to the world that no regulations are good regulations. Failed miserably. As it always does.

That was another reason for going into Iraq and firing so many people. As per the usual it just meant that millions were unemployed and thus the insurgency was born.
