1. Just a couple of givens: She's in the lead for the nomination, frontrunners
enjoy both the advantages and suffer the perils of frontrunnerhood, and a lot can happen between now and the first votes of the caucus/primary schedule.

3. I have a had a hunch from the beginning
of this campaign that Obama would overtake Hillary in the end and I still believe this. The fact that Obama is being severely trashed and bashed here on a daily basis is a good omen for Obama as it points out that he is suddenly being taken seriously as a candidate. I also know several Hillary supporters who have lost their cockiness. They still love her but they are suddenly realizing that this election is not a done deal. I also think it would be foolish to totally write Edwards off in terms of this campaign.

5. Hi, nevergiveup.
On HClinton, I think she's in an enviable position, as any frontrunner would be perceived to be, but agree with you that she is vulnerable. She's strong and vulnerable all at once, so to speak. The curse of any frontrunner.

The clustered front-loaded primary schedule plus an always-ornery media, plus the unknown variables still to play out all make this race almost anyone's to win or lose.

Agree also on Obama. He has been the target of some strong criticism (I'm not exactly hogwild about his sanctioning of mcClurkin) but there's a broader big picture Obama that is still running a very respectable second in the polling and who has a boatload of cash that has not been spent. Add to that his natural gifts with language and command of history and you have a formidable opponent to Senator Clinton.

I'm an Edwards voter and feel that his domestic policy would be the America I'd most wish to live in, with Joe Biden's brains on international affairs as veep or Sec. of State.

At this point in the game, I'm thinking Edwards, Obama, and Biden are bunched together for the first 3 positions in Iowa (not sure of the order), with Clinton or Richardson fourth and fifth. Dodd is the dark horse, because he has over 10 million bucks and hasn't spent a nickle of it yet.

7. I agree with your assessment
and your feelings about the McClurkin "screw-up" by Obama and his staff. I have sent both Edwards and Obama money but my heart remains with Obama. I am not a Hillary hater but am convinced she would be slaughtered in the general and at 62 I doubt my heart could stand another devastating presidential election eve as we had in 2000 and 2004.

8. You're right -- the last two elections weren't good for any of us.
The current trends favor the blue team, though for 2008, and with a lot of hard work and some serious grassroots energy, I think we can improve our numbers in the Congress and take the White House, too.

I'd feel more comfortable about my country if more ethical people were in charge.

2. Something happened to Hillary?
Edited on Sat Nov-10-07 10:00 AM by MethuenProgressive
The tipping story was debunked.
She didn't go down in the polls after being attacked by the GOP, Obama, and Edwards.
The 'having her cats killed' story was debunked.
I'd say the 'outlook' hasn't changed.

edit: the "pollster" is asking about her "resent stumbles"
Must be talking about how the phoney tipping stories are "resent" as emails every few months!

6. The "Tipping Story" continues...

The worst thing about Hillary's diner-stop was when she told a hard-working waitress, "I'm proud of you". So condescending and rude!

4. She looks quite strong ....
Edited on Sat Nov-10-07 10:10 AM by Trajan
She is NOT my first choice, but there is no doubt she can win the nomination, based on current trends, and move on to defeat the republican challenger in 2008 ...

While acknowledging there is a lot of time between now and then, and recognizing that something could emerge that could alter the seeming inevitability of a Clinton nomination, we have to admit that Hillary, as a LONG TIME target of the 'Vast Right Wing Conspiracy', and countless efforts to disparage her reputation by the right wing hate machine, is essentially fully vetted out for the American electorate. I greatly doubt there is more dirt somewhere that hasn't yet been found and exploited.

Therefore, without any reason to alter the present course, and with polling percentages as they stand today; she will most likely remain atop the list of candidates .... Hillary will most likely win the nomination. I don't think anything, or any 'gotcha' information exists that can derail her path ...

That being said: A thought should be given to making sure she recognizes how WE feel, and what WE expect from her ..... Many of her views on trade and security issues give voters here pause, and she needs to realize that, for us, being a Democrat means embracing the fair, even-handed governmental approach that gave us the New Deal and Great Society philosophies in the past ..... THAT is why many of us ARE Democrats ...... We expect a level of fairness for COMMON citizens that used to exemplify Democratic Party philosophy .....

She needs to embrace being a New Deal-Great Society kind of Democrat .... IMHO

9. Barring no serious problem--HRC is still most likely to win
nomination and be our candidate. The fact that she got into the
Frontrunner Status so early and maintains is a pretty good indication.

Most serious Pundits have commented that counting all factors
she still most likely to be Democratic Candidate.

10.  Come next Thursday, the 15th
of November I will be willing to bet HRC will come out swinging and leave no stone unturned and when the dust has cleared afterwards it will be HRC once again commanding this election.
