Pres. Biden, V.P. Obama, Sec. of State Holbrooke, & Def. Sec. Clark
Biden as president because he is most experienced, most knowledgeable, and most qualified. Obama so Biden, the elder statesman, has someone competent to pass the torch to, someone exceptionally smart who could learn more from Biden than anyone else. This would give Obama the experience he needs to win the presidency in the future and he would remain high profile. Holbrooke because he's smart, experienced, and is a master statesman. Clark because of his experience, his very impressive intellect, his popularity, and his 34 years (I think that's right) in the military rising to become a 4 star general. Comments?

1. In order for a general to be Sec. Def. he has to be retired for 10 years.
Edited on Sun Nov-11-07 04:32 PM by Alexander
I read that in some article concerning the possibility of Clark as Secretary of Defense.

3. Hmmm...interesting, and too bad. But thanks for sharing that.
I don't fully follow our reasoning for that. Clark would make a great Sec. of Defense. How long has he been out of the military anyway?

5. Since 1999-2000.
I think he could still be Sec. Def., but they'd either have to wait a year or find a way to skirt around the rule (which was also discussed).

9. Bah
Others have worked around that rule. I'm sure if they wanted to make it happen, they could.

4. I don't think mankind is going to survive too much longer, but...
I prefer to focus on the possibilities. It's just a rhetorical offering anyway.

I never would have bet on her success (not to confuse Britney with Sen. Biden).

6. I'm with you on the Biden/Obama ticket. I think they'd make a great team
and both would benefit from the pairing - as would the country and our rep in the world.

I used to think Richardson would be a good SOS, but I'm having doubts lately.

I would have gone for Clark for Sec of Defense, too, but apparently that's a no-can-do at this point. Glad Alexander pointed that out.

I'd like to see Boxer in there somewhere to keep everybody real.

Interesting topic - I'll be thinking on it -- thanks!

21. Let's hope Biden wins...
I'd like to see Boxer as Speaker of the House. I really love her.

I'd like to see either Obama or Webb as Majority Leader in the Senate. Both aren't easily pushed around.. I like Harry (who doesn't?), but he's too nice and too polite.

VP - Edwards, Kucinich, Clark, Richardson - they're all okay. The only one I really dislike is Hillary Clinton. If NY likes her, let'em keep'er.

So many good positions to fill - Secy of Labor, HEW, HS, Defense, Interior, AG, FBI & CIA heads - and so many qualified "losers" to fill them. And I like my Senator, Carl Levin. He always votes right and he's tough.

12. For me it helps when you factor in our nation's priorities.
But I certainly appreciate your position. He doesn't waffle, taking strong stands on issues. When you do that for 35 years you're bound to leave some unpleasant residue.

15. The more I get to know Biden
The more impressed I am.
It appears to me that Biden has a thoughtful response to ANY question tossed at him.
He thinks quickly on his feet, knows his subject matter and it seems impossible to "stump" him.
He's never at a loss for words and he doesn't make any headline "gaffes".
I would proudly vote for him in a second. Damn.....I wish he had more money.
The buying of the POTUS exposes a big flaw in our system IMHO.

18. Agree wholeheartedly
I can't help much, but I've sent him money several times.

Buying of the POTUS only works with a complacent, ill-informed electorate. If 30-second sound bites are all it takes, then money sells an empty suit like gwb. When the consumers have been burnt as badly as we have, they start reading the labels on the bottles, checking the ingredients, reading Consumer Reports, and pretty soon all the tv advertising in the world can't sell a bad product. I have my fingers crossed that the enlightenment of the electorate will be in time.

19. That's the common refrain regarding Biden....The more I get to know him...
And it keeps getting better. Something will come up, a questions, and I'll wonder if he's on top of it and I'll be blown away because not only is he aware of the issue, he's given it consideration and come up with an approach to rectify the problem.

This buying of the POTUS feels dirty. I really think it's shameful that's the reality in our country these days.

20. Biden just applied for public financing, so I hope it gives him more $$ to get his message out.
When Musharraf and Bhutto call him before they call Bsh, you know we've got to get this man elected!

22. Joe Biden has been a major player for our side for 35 years...he has my utmost respect
Obama has potential, but also carries baggage. Personally, I'd bet on Richardson for the vp nomination, regardless of who the presidential nominee is. JMO.

Clark and Holbrook SHOULD be stars of the next administration regardless of which candidate we select.
