Poll question: Will Kerry endorse and, if so, who?
Edited on Sun Nov-25-07 10:23 AM by BeyondGeography
I think he might sit this one out...too many friends in the Senate and he still apparently harbors personal ambitions for 2012. His endorsement, however, is probably the biggest prize out there besides Gore's, so it's worth discussing.

2. He'll endorse the nominee...as he should
The man isn't stupid, he'll show unity with the eventual nominee, but I highly doubt he'll get involved in the primaries.

5. Because the OP and others are interested by the subject. If you do not care,
just skip the thread.

4. If he does, my best bets are Obama or Biden. Not sure that he will, though.
He may wait until there is a probable nominee (or at least until early February, where the MA primary will take place).

6. He'll endorse the eventual nominee only after it is certain he'll win the nomination. Same with Gore

7. On Meet the Press today this came up.
Kerry, Gore and Kennedy those were the endorsements to get, the ones that would make a difference.

I would LOVE it if Biden got anyone of those.

I guess for Kerry and Kennedy, it would be difficult. They are friends with Biden, Dodd, Obama and Clinton :P

10. It is a bit of a clusterf***, isn't it, what with there being 4 senators running.
No matter what he does, somebody is going to get their feelings hurt. I guess we'll have to wait and see.

8. I doubt that Kerry will endorse the same people that tried to sabotage his 2004 campaign
Remember Carville telling Cheney via his wife that Kerry was thinking of challenging Ohio?

11. Kerry, like most politicians, won't endorse anyone.
Edited on Sun Nov-25-07 10:16 PM by robcon
No advantage for active politicians to make an enemy of the next president.

That's why it's mostly retired politicians, non-politicians and those out of the limelight that endorse a candidate before the nomination is secured.

12. Who cares who he endorses?
It really doesn't matter. Ask Al Gore.

13. He'll sit it out. Four of his colleagues are running against each other.
I know he will not endorse Hillary in the primaries, but I doubt he wants to deal with bad blood on the Senate floor, particularly if his preferred candidate doesn't win.

14. Oh, yeah, that's right!
I nearly forgot about Hillary's statement about the "botched" joke.

She really stuck the dagger in him. I'm sure neither he nor Teresa has forgotten it.

15. Clinton's Backstabbing In The Crucial Days Before The Mid-Term Election
What a low point. And evidence #1 of why people call her overly-ambitious, since she - like her husband - is willing to compromise everyone else in the party for personal gain.

I think that Kerry has given up the idea of becoming a major force in the party, although I consider him something of a moral compass generally. For that reason, I doubt that he will risk making a big announcement prior to the establishment of a candidate.

That said, I'm sure he hopes it is not Clinton. Nevermind that the Clintonista's put a hit job on him with their absurd advice - or that the Clinton's made a strong bid to put Wesley Clark into the race to take Kerry down a notch (regardless of Clark's actual merits as a leader).

but I don't think he'll endorse anyone in the primary.

17. Not unless he thinks it would help
And my guess would be Biden or Obama if he did. Otherwise, it's too distracting from the very important issues he is leading on, every single day.
