Fred Thompson's "heated exchange" with Chris Wallace: Accuses Fox of "constant mantra of attacks"

On Fox News Sunday, Thompson Accuses Fox Of "Constant Mantra" Of Attacks

November 25, 2007 10:36 AM

In a heated exchange this morning on Fox News Sunday, former Sen. Fred Thompson took host Chris Wallace to task for what he claims is a "constant mantra" of attacks on Thompson from Fox News.

Thompson reacted to two clips from Fox News contributors Charles Krauthammer and Fred Barnes sharply criticizing Thompson's candidacy.

Wallace defended his network's coverage. "I don't know if Fox has been going after you."

Thompson insisted -- "From day one, they said I got in too late --" but Wallace interrupted. "Well, there are a lot of people besides Fox who said that."

1. "there are a lot of people besides Fox who said that"
A variation on "some say" and "it has been reported" and "there are rumors"...

:eyes:

How does that bed feel, Freddy?

2. is this a ploy to create the illusion of dissent?
seem more likely a dancing with the pols routine choreographed by cheney and and murdoch, aided by roger ailes bloated appreciation of thugliani. it's always a shell game with these guys.

11. No.
Fox News has been propagandizing for Rudy Giuliani, Roger Ailes' friend. This has been well-documented by Josh Marshall and others. Thompson isn't the right Republican for them.

13. i wasn't ignoring the thugliani ailes connection
but that doesn't negate the idea that the thompson trashing is a choreographed dance rather than a spontaneous conflagration.

4. Chris Wallace is essentially an alley punk with a microphone instead of a knife.

He's certainly not a journalist.

Fred Thompson is the thickest, most unchallenged political figure to emerge from Tennessee -- maybe along with the hapless Bob Corker -- in at least a generation. He often acts and speaks as if he's sedative-dependent. I hope Jeri likes to sew play video games.

A month out from the first caucus, you put a craven partisan pseudojournalist on the set with a crumbling authoritarian has-been (who's tanking in the polling) and a shoving match is almost inevitable.

It's kinda fun watching the Pukes take each apart on national tv.

5. ... and then, off-camera, Wallace thanked Thompson for the Thanksgiving invitation.
And Thompson thanked Wallace for bringing the hookers.

in fact he his right that the WASHINGTON INSIDERS AND PUNDITS have been predicting his down fall. i have said this before don't be surprise if this guy gets the nomination. because people in heart land America see this race differently than the pundits and Washington.

10. This is funny
Faux Noise was the GOP's mouthpiece throughout the BushCo reign. Guess all the candidates thought they'd be able to prance and strut unencumbered on any of the Faux talk shows.

Now some are waking up to what we knew all along. The PTB at Faux have their own agenda and it doesn't include being "Fair and Balanced" toward all the GOP candidates and more than it means giving unbiased reporting on Democrats.

Sweet.
