Stupak backing Edwards
Stupak backing Edwards
By Lisa M. Reed--(Escanaba, MI) Daily Press
Thursday, November 29, 2007

----
ESCANABA — Congressman Bart Stupak has announced who he thinks is the best Democratic candidate for president — John Edwards.

Stupak explained Wednesday why he is endorsing the retired senator from North Carolina in his bid for the White House.

"I think he is absolutely right for America. He voted for the war in Iraq and had the guts to say he has made a mistake. He was the first to come out with a health plan," Stupak said. "I think he's the most inclusive of all three candidates (compared to fellow Democratic candidates Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama). I like all three, but he is the best.”
(...)
Stupak thinks many people are looking for an alternative candidate for president this time with the Bush and Clinton families potentially holding the White House for at least 24 straight years.

"People want a change and are looking for something different," he said.

2. Yes, people are looking for change this time. Big change.
The kind of change they were hoping to get in 2006, which has been missing.

Clinton will be a continuation of all the bad governmental habits - lobbyist and corporate influence in policy, namely. She will have to repay all those campaign donations somehow. The price won't be cheap.

Edwards is the ticket for real change in America.

8. A nice person being very nice about the top 3 - I don't understand
what he means by "I liked her(Clinton) last time. Can anyone clarify?

Stupak said Obama and Clinton are also good candidates.

Stupak said he thinks “the rap” on Clinton might be that it may be difficult for her to win the presidency.

“I think the rap on her is not fair. I think she’s the most qualified and is super, super smart,” Stupak said. “I just like Edwards. I liked her last time, but I am not ready to give up on him (Edwards).”

Stupak said he thinks if Clinton won, Bill Clinton, would continue to do his charity work.

“He’s a rockstar, more popular now than ever,” Stupak said of Bill Clinton. “I think this country is ready for a female president. I hope people look for the quality of every candidate.”

“If she gets the nomination, I still think she will win,” Stupak said.
